The Tomb Raider series is one of gaming's most iconic action-adventure franchises, with none other than iconic protagonist, Lara Croft, leading each adventure. In the Tomb Raider games, players will explore forgotten tombs, discover ancient relics, solve puzzles, and take on many different enemies in shootouts and hand-to-hand combat fights along the way.
Tomb Raider 4-6 Remastered Reviews Are In
Tomb Raider 4-6 Remastered review scores are all over the board as critics temper their nostalgia for classic Lara Croft action-adventures.
As the Tomb Raider games have been going on for a number of years, they have received many different entries and remakes along the way. For this reason, knowing exactly where to start can be confusing. Don't worry, though; if you're looking to delve into the Tomb Raider franchise, the complete chronological play order has been outlined in the guide below.
How to Play the Tomb Raider Games in Chronological Order
In Tomb Raider, there are three different eras — each with its own set of games. The classic era features the original six games with the iconic Lara Croft; the LAU era (Legend, Anniversary, and Underworld); and, last but not least, the new survivor era games, featuring a young Lara Croft.
The new survivor era features what appears to be a fresh start/new timeline to the franchise. So, despite the fact that they feature a younger Lara, you do not need to play the classic and LAU era games to be able to follow and enjoy the survivor era games, and you can instead play them last, as they are a reboot. However, if you'd like to begin with them, or even choose to only play the new era titles, this is also fine — it won't really affect the rest of the timeline as long as you play classic era then LAU.
