The legendary and iconic skater Tony Hawk has addressed the new and varied soundtrack in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4, aware of the fact that some fans would have liked to hear more classic tracks from previous games included. A handful of fan-favorite songs previously featured in the video game series include Goldfinger’s Superman, Bad Religion’s You, and Anthrax’s Bring the Noise, but THPS 3 + 4’s song list is designed to help skaters discover new music.

Released on July 11, THPS 3 + 4 is a remake of 2001’s Pro Skater 3 and 2002’s Pro Skater 4, and includes pro skaters Leo Baker, Bam Margera, Lizzie Armanto, and many more on the roster. Some of this entry’s special guest skaters feature Doom Slayer and Michelangelo from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. THPS 3 + 4 is also part of an exciting list of Xbox Game Pass titles available to play in July, joining Pentiment, Mafia: Definitive Edition, and id Software’s latest shooter entry, Doom: The Dark Ages.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 Is Off to a Slow Start on Steam

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 gets off to a slow start on Steam in various aspects, although there's a good reason why.

During an interview with BBC News, Hawk commented on THPS 3 + 4’s soundtrack choices, noting he wanted to "keep it fresh." The skater elaborated that the soundtrack is somewhat designed to help skaters discover new music, saying, "Once the soundtrack was a prominent part of the game, people were like 'Ok, what are you going to throw at us now?'" Hawk previously commented on THPS 3 + 4’s songs, saying it was his choice to pick an array of different tracks by beloved artists featured in previous games. However, the skater confirmed in this recent interview that he does not solely control the soundtrack, and "not everyone agreed" with the choice to feature new songs by familiar bands. "I’m not the only decider in these soundtracks, but I did manage to throw a couple of bands in," Hawk explained.

Tony Hawk Explains Pro Skater 3 + 4's Soundtrack Choices

Fans of the series have not only been vocal about THPS 3 + 4’s soundtrack, since the community previously championed a petition to keep one song by a controversial band off THPS 1 + 2’s song list. Hawk also touched on fans’ uproar over Alien Ant Farm’s Wish being left out of the latest soundtrack, saying, "We're trying to make room for new acts and new songs as well, and not everything makes the cut, it's nothing personal. Just fire it up on your streaming service if you're so inclined."

Months before its release, Activision revealed a handful of songs from THPS 3 + 4 via Spotify, to get fans excited about the launch. Classic tracks from previous titles, such as Ace of Spades by Motorhead and Amoeba by Adolescents, are making a return in the remake, and some of the newer bands include Denzel Curry, Turnstile, and Run the Jewels.
