Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4's official release date is around the corner, and one player has reported that the game's physical copy works on their Xbox Series X with no need for an update or internet access. This makes Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 stand out from other Xbox-published “physical” games, which usually need an internet connection to patch them before they properly launch on the console.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 releases tomorrow (July 11), introducing players to a full remake of the iconic skateboarding games from 2001 and 2002, rebuilt from the ground up with 4K visuals, modern lighting, better animations, and cross-platform online multiplayer. The remake features some fan-favorite modes like Free Skate, Speedruns, and New Game+, along with deep customization through Create-A-Skater and Create-A-Park tools, and a skater roster that includes Tony Hawk, Rodney Mullen, Rayssa Leal and Yuto Horigome. It also incorporates quirky guest characters such as Doom Slayer, Michelangelo from TMNT, and Jack Black’s Officer Dick. Ahead of the game’s release, one player has good news for fans.
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 Dev Reveals Some ‘Missing’ Content Will Be in the Game After All
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 developer Iron Galaxy reveals some of the content thought to be axed from the game will actually be included.
Reddit user known as revengexgamer has informed the community that the upcoming Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 physical copy “is actually on the disc.” According to the player, they installed the game on their Xbox Series X and it fully launched with no need for an internet connection: “It's the full game. I'm shocked,” revengexgamer wrote. This is particularly notable, as many Xbox physical games, especially those with Smart Delivery, often require an internet connection because the discs usually contain an incomplete build.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 Disc Works Without Internet on Xbox Series X
This happens normally because game files can be too large for discs, and publishers frequently ship incomplete versions to try to meet deadlines, relying on online updates to complete or improve the game after launch. Also, digital-only console sales numbers have outsold disc-drive versions by 75% in 2025, which discourages the release of full physical copies even more.
Despite this, it's also true that physical games have several advantages over digital games, because they offer players a tangible product that can be collected, traded, or resold. Moreover, many view physical games as crucial for game preservation—especially as digital storefronts can shut down and licenses can expire. This debate has intensified with the rise of digital-only consoles and the increasing number of live-service games being shut down.
Nevertheless, revengexgamer also noted in their posts that the Xbox One version does require internet to download the full game. Although Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 will likely receive post-launch updates, the game has strayed from a trend that has become increasingly common.
