Total War: Warhammer 3 placed a lot of its marketing focus on the demonic factions it was introducing to the series. As pure agents of chaos acting as the major villains of both Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer 40K, of course fans were happy to see the rosters of the Chaos factions expanded upon through these additions. However, some were initially disappointed when they found out that most of the mortal units from the Chaos rosters would not be immediately making their way to Total War: Warhammer 3.

Now, nearly six months after Total War: Warhammer 3 released, more mortal units and champions of Chaos are making their way to the game through DLC. The Champions of Chaos DLC for Total War: Warhammer 3 was initially unveiled via a leak that appeared in a video posted by developer Creative Assembly. In a victory conditions screen, viewers saw that four new factions had been added to the game, each with their own leader dedicated to one of the Chaos gods.

The first of those new faction leaders was Azazel, who was depicted in a trailer for Total War: Warhammer 3. The latest video from Creative Assembly shows off the second of these four new faction leaders with Festus the Leechlord, one of the most disgusting characters from Warhammer lore. Festus initially began life as a doctor for the Empire before his quest to heal the sick led to him pursuing any means necessary to do so.

This pushed Festus into the service of the Chaos god Nurgle, who represents disease, decay, and the mortal fear of death. Festus' design in Total War: Warhammer 3 reflects the gross nature of his lord, as he has a bloated chin and stomach, diseased green skin, and a strange blue tentacle that he uses to pick up ingredients for his concoctions. A lot of Festus' campaign mechanics in Total War: Warhammer 3 will be tied into his alchemy, as he can grant poisonous attacks to vassal factions, double the regeneration of his army, and more.

With the servants of Slaanesh and Nurgle now revealed, only the Chaos gods Khorne and Tzeentch have champions left to be named. Most fans have an idea of what the new characters being brought to Total War: Warhammer 3 will be, but these won't be officially confirmed by Creative Assembly until a new trailer drops. The Champions of Chaos DLC will launch August 23, the same date the free Immortal Empires expansion for Total War: Warhammer 3 launches, giving fans plenty of content to try out.

Total War: Warhammer 3 is available on Mac, Linux, and Windows PC. Champions of Chaos launches on August 23.
