Total War: Warhammer 3 developer Creative Assembly confirmed that sieges are being reworked, and the team needs player feedback on how to make them better going forward. There will also be a beta test for Total War: Warhammer 3, which will allow players to test out some of the game's upcoming changes.

Released on February 17, 2022, Total War: Warhammer 3 continues to receive major updates and support, along with a steady release cycle of content expansions. Total War: Warhammer 3 has retained a healthy player base through these updates and expansions, which give players reasons to experiment with new strategies and features. There are nearly 100 different factions in Total War: Warhammer 3 to choose from across 24 playable races, and as previous updates have shown, the developers aren't afraid to make big changes if players call for it.

In a new blog post, Creative Assembly announced the developers are in the process of reworking sieges in Total War: Warhammer 3, and a Siege Rework Beta will begin on July 24 on Steam. During the beta test, players provide feedback and suggest ideas on how to make sieges more fun, and changes will not be rolled out in the base game until the developers and players are both satisfied with sieges. Creative Assembly senior community manager Steve Coleman notes that this round of Siege Rework Beta testing will last for two weeks, ending on August 7. More details about the upcoming beta, including how to access it on Steam, will be revealed in a subsequent blog post and an upcoming live stream on the Total War Twitch channel on July 17 at 2:20 p.m. UTC.

Total War: Warhammer 3 Developers are Reworking Sieges and Asking for Player Feedback in the Upcoming Beta

  • The Total War: Warhammer 3 Siege Rework Beta will be held from July 24 to August 7 on Steam.

Before the live stream, Total War: Warhammer 3 battle team lead Milcho Vasilev revealed some of the siege changes that will be included in the beta. Vasilev outlined multiple key areas of the game that will be changed for the beta, including the removal of pocket ladders, a rebalancing of siege equipment, stat adjustments to defensive towers and gates, battle AI improvements, and siege map reworks and improvements. Patch notes for these changes will likely be revealed in the future, similarly to past Total War: Warhammer 3 updates.

In the future, the Total War: Warhammer 3 developers plan to release a "wish list" of possible options to explore in sieges. Some examples of these options include introducing ladders as new constructible siege equipment, garrison rebalance updates and reworks, more Battle AI and Pathfinding upgrades, and a change to the way tower and barricade building works.
