The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom features a wide variety of side adventures and quests that Link can encounter in his travels. Link will aid all sorts of residents of Hyrule, including the rock-loving Gorons who reside in the Eldin Canyon regions surrounding Death Mountain. Here’s what players need to know about starting and completing the quest “Cash on Ripened Flint” in Tears of the Kingdom.
Cash In On Ripened Flint Walkthrough
Before they can start the side quest, “Cash In On Ripened Fruit,” the player must have completed the main story quest, "Yunobo of Goron City." Once this has been completed, the player should head to the Bedrock Bistro located in Eldin Canyon. The Timawak Shrine is the closest fast travel point and will bring the player directly north of the Bedrock Bistro, where the quest begins.
Otherwise, the player should fast-travel to Eldin Canyon Skyview Tower and then glide north until they reach the Bedrock Bistro just a short distance away at coordinates (1756, 1547, 0279). This fine dining establishment is easy to spot with its giant rock roast adorning the top of the building.
Here, Link will meet a distinguished Goron named Gomo, who can be found sitting outside the restaurant at coordinates (1750, 1536, 0278). When Link speaks with him, he learns that Gomo is quite the cobblestone connoisseur. Gomo explains that he is interested in trying a delicious and rare delicacy known as “Ripened Flint.” He informs Link that he will pay handsomely for this special snack.
The twist is that there isn't a unique "Ripened Flint" item that Link must locate. Instead, Gomo will stumble upon Ripened Flint while sifting through the batches of regular
Flint provided by Link. The player can find Flint near cooking fires and also from breaking mineral veins in caves. However, the outcome of Gomo's searches is entirely random. Thus, it is recommended to save the game before interacting with Gomo and handing over any Flint, just in case the player is unfortunate and Gomo fails to find a Ripened Flint in the given batch.
Gomo needs only to discover a single Ripened Flint among the Flint Link gives him for the player to earn his reward of 1,000 Rupees. However, it’s possible that Link can get very unlucky and need to turn in a large amount of Flint before Gomo finds what he's looking for to complete the quest.
This is why saving beforehand is recommended, so the player can give him a handful of Flint at a time and reload from the previous save if Gomo does not find the Ripened Flint. This is a process generally known as “save scumming” and can help prevent the player from giving up a massive amount of Flint that they will not receive back if they have poor luck.
They can give Gomo batches of Flint in quantities of 20, 50, or 100. If the player is planning to reload from a previous save, they may as well simply give Gomo the 20 minimum on each attempt. Once Gomo does find the Ripened Flint, he will give Link his 1,000 Rupee reward and complete the quest “Cash In On Ripened Flint.” This quest is not repeatable, and Gomo will not find more than one Ripened Flint, so the player will not be able to earn additional rupees from the quest.
