The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom features such a wide variety of weapons and armor that multiple systems were designed to ensure that Link knew not only that they exist but also where to find them. While there are several systems in the game, one of the most useful is the system built around Old Maps. These hidden items are spread throughout the Sky Islands, with each map found leading Link on a one-item treasure hunt through Tears of the Kingdom' s massive Depths area.

With more than 30 Old Maps to be found, Link can spend the entire game searching for these relics and still not find them all. This guide will explore every known Old Map, the location they lead to, and what is waiting when Link arrives.

This guide consists of every Old Map found in Tears of the Kingdom so far. It will be updated as soon as any new maps are discovered.

How Old Maps Work in Tears of the Kingdom

TotK-Old-Maps-featured-2

Old Maps are found on Sky Islands, always hidden away in chests. The two most common ways Link will come across an old map are through exploration and mini-boss fights. When exploring, Link will often find these chests out in the open, though there are a few that can be tricky. With boss fights, Link will find that he will most often be facing Flux Constructs.

When Link comes across an old map, it will immediately trigger a scene in which an X is marked on the map of the Depths. Each X corresponds with a special treasure chest that contains a single piece of armor. Many of the best pieces of equipment in Tears of the Kingdom can be found this way.

The best way to search for Old Maps, even when using a guide, is to activate the Purah Pad's Sensor + system. This can be acquired through Robbie during his quest line. Link can make a treasure chest the active target of his Sensor, making the entire process of finding Old Maps considerably easier.
