The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom takes many parts of Breath of the Wild and expands them, including cooking meals and elixirs. Elixirs are potion-like beverages that grant Link specific abilities and buffs whenever he drinks them.

Elixirs come in handy when dealing with the sometimes unforgiving monsters, climates, and terrains in Hyrule. Also, since players can make their own using the resources in each region, elixirs are an excellent temporary alternative until certain armors are collected. This guide covers making elixirs and every recipe in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

How to Make Elixirs in Tears of the Kingdom

While some general stores or merchants sell elixirs, players are better off making their own. Elixirs consist of critters and monster parts, with the type of critter establishing the elixir's effect. Smaller organisms like lizards, frogs, and bugs are all over Hyrule and are used to make elixirs that reflect their physical traits.

Hyrule has four main regions, not including the Sky Islands or The Depths, with unique climates and creatures. There are also caves and dark chasms players can explore to find certain things. For example, Sticky Lizards hang out in dark, stony habitats like caves or mountain areas. Critters are jumpy and quick to run and disappear, so players must use stealth to catch them.

After catching a few critters, players must also find monster parts to make elixirs. Monster parts are farmed by defeating the monsters around Hyrule and collecting their body parts. The next step is to find a pot or use a portable Zonai pot. Then, hold the desired ingredients and select Cook when close enough to the pot.

The more ingredients players use, the better the effects, and they stay active longer. Players should make sure not to use ingredients with different buffs, such as mixing a Fireproof Lizard and an Electric Darner, or else the effects will cancel each other out.
