Hearty Radish and its
Big Hearty Radish counterpart weren't the most common resource in Breath of the Wild, but the gloom in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has sent most hearty ingredients into hiding - either in the sky, caves, or the sea. Hearty Radish is a valuable ingredient that adds yellow bonus hearts to Links health when cooked into a hearty meal. With this guide, players can find all the Hearty Radish and Big Hearty Radish they need to cook those useful meals in Tears of the Kingdom.
Where to Find Hearty Radish in Tears of the Kingdom
Hearty Radish can be found growing in the Sky Islands; look out for a leafy green stalk with a pink/purple flower on the top. They are usually pretty easy to spot in the right locations, as they stick right out of the ground and contrast with the orange colors surrounding them. Check the following sky islands for Hearty Radish:
- The North Necluda Sky Archipelago
- North Sokkala Sky
- South Lanayru Archipelago
- Lanayru Sky Archipelago
Remember to take a picture of the Hearty Radish using the Purah Pad's Camera Rune to add to the Hyrule Compendium. Not only does this update the compendium, but if Sensor+ has been unlocked, players can set the sensor to go off when a Hearty Radish is nearby, taking any guesswork out of the search.
Growing Hearty Radish in Tears of the Kingdom
After completing the 'Teach Me A Lesson' side quests, Link will unlock a plot of land that he can use to farm various ingredients, including Hearty Radish and Big Hearty Radish, with the help of an NPC called Uma. This will provide a continuous source of Hearty Radish without having to venture into the sky every time. Players can harvest a Hearty Radish or Big Hearty Radish every two hours.
Duplicating Hearty Radish
Players that are really desperate to get their hands on some Hearty Radish might also want to consider duplication glitches. With as little as one Hearty Radish, players can use exploits to get as many as they want. These change depending on the latest patch, but The Best War Games's guide covers all the most current ways to duplicate an item in Tears of the Kingdom.
Where to Find Big Hearty Radish in Tears of the Kingdom
A quick note on Big Hearty Radish. These are even rarer than standard Hearty Radish, but they add five additional bonus hearts when cooked into a meal, for a maximum of twenty-six bonus hearts when five are cooked together (under the Blood Moon). For this reason, it's worth seeking one out to either farm using Uma in Hateno Village, or duplicate using glitches.
The easiest Big Hearty Radish to get to can be found at coordinates 4781, -0792, 1938 on a vine-covered island above Valor Island in the South Lanayru Sky Archipelago. Mayanas Shrine is located on this island for an easy travel point. Otherwise, the easiest way to get to this location is to travel northeast from Mount Lanayru Skyview Tower, then use the flying devices to travel upwards until Link reaches the vine-covered island. Link can find a Big Hearty Radish on top of this island.
Uses For Hearty Radish in Tears of the Kingdom
Hearty Radish and Big Hearty Radish will restore health when eaten raw, but there are better ways to utilize the effects of these ingredients:
Cooking With Hearty Radish
When cooking with Hearty Radish and Big Hearty Radish, it is important to consider the bonus heart effect. Cooking with certain ingredients will either enhance or cancel out that effect, so be careful when cooking to ensure this does not happen. Avoid ingredients that grant different effects like stamina restoration, cold resistance, or attack boosts. These effects will not stack and instead cancel out.
Inversely, cooking with other ingredients that have the hearty tag will increase the amount of bonus hearts Link can get. This includes ingredients like Hearty Bass, Hearty Salmon, Hearty Truffles, and Big Hearty Truffles. Hearty and Big Hearty Radish can also be cooked together for this effect.
Try these recipes when cooking with Hearty Radish:
- Fried Hearty Wild Greens: Depending on the amount of Radish used and whether they are big or not, this simple recipe can restore up to twenty-six bonus hearts. Cook either five Hearty Radish, five Big Hearty Radish, or a combination of the two.
- Hearty Mushroom and Vegetable Skewer: Combine Hearty Radish, Big Hearty Radish, Hearty Truffle, or Big Hearty Truffle to achieve this recipe.
- Creamy Heart Soup: While this is a unique recipe and should be cooked at least once to be added to the cookbook, it should be noted that it does not add bonus hearts. Cook one Hearty Radish, one Volt Fruit, one Hydromelon, and one Fresh Milk.
Dyeing Armor With Hearty Radish
Hearty Radish and Big Hearty Radish can be used at Kochi's Dye Shop to dye any armor a peach color. Given the rarity of these ingredients, players should think carefully before using them here.
