On May 4, Massachusetts-based indie studio Snoozy Kazoo announced Turnip Boy Steals The Mail, a 2D auto-runner spinoff of the Turnip Boy series. Snoozy Kazoo also confirmed that Turnip Boy Steals The Mail can now be wishlisted on Steam, and the base game will be free to play once it is released on an unannounced date.

Turnip Boy Steals The Mail is a spinoff and a prequel to Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion. This Zelda-inspired 2021 title chronicled the titular Turnip Boy and his crime spree throughout Veggieville. After ripping up his tax notices, Turnip Boy works his way throughout the town in an attempt to overthrow the vegetable government. Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion was followed by a 2024 direct sequel, Turnip Boy Robs A Bank. The sequel included rogue-lite elements to ensure no two playthroughs are the same, and included some story elements for players to experience during the Botanical Bank heist.

However, a new spinoff set one day before Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion will soon be available for indie game fans to add to their collections. In a blog post by Snoozy Kazoo, studio lead Yukon Wainczak revealed that Turnip Boy Steals The Mail will come to Steam on an unannounced date. Though both Turnip Boy titles currently available were published by Graffiti Games, Turnip Boy Steals The Mail will be developed and published by Snoozy Kazoo. Turnip Boy Steals The Mail is a 2D auto-scrolling platformer that will chronicle Turnip Boy's first crimes while under the employ of Velvet, a dark velvet cake. Snoozy Kazoo released a 25-second YouTube trailer to show the fast and chaotic auto-runner in action. Various cosmetics and power-ups will be available for Turnip Boy to collect as he steals envelopes and packages scattered across Veggieville while avoiding obstacles.

Turnip Boy Steals The Mail Spinoff Announced

Wainczak stated that, as a way to give back to the studio's fans, the base version of Turnip Boy Steals The Mail will be available for free on Steam. Additionally, the PC spec requirements for Turnip Boy Steals The Mail are not steep. To play the upcoming 2D auto-runner game, Windows users will need 8 GB of RAM, at least 256 MB of storage space, and a CPU capable of at least 2.6 GHz of processing power.

In the meantime, Steam users can add the upcoming title to their wishlists to be notified when the game is available. With indie games on Steam such as Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Blue Prince taking over social media, it remains to be seen how successful the upcoming Turnip Boy game will be.
