Though Twitch has struggled to be profitable since its 2014 acquisition by Amazon, that has not stopped the service from retaining a dedicated viewership thanks in no small part to games such as Palworld that have proven dominant on the platform. In addition to finding ways to gain some form of profitability, Twitch has also introduced tools for streamers to combat harassment in their chat rooms and also worked with tech giant Nvidia to bring new encoding methods that are capable of making streaming on the platform a smoother experience.

According to a social media post by Twitch Support, the price of Tier 1 subscriptions, including gifted ones, will increase in over 40 countries such as the US, starting on October 1. However, this price increase will only affect users who subscribe to their favorite Twitch channels via the mobile app on iOS and Android. The new price increase on the Twitch mobile app will be $7.99 in the US, but this will not affect Tier 2 or Tier 3 subscriptions. Ergo, this price increase will once again make subscriptions via desktop browsers cheaper by a dollar.
