Twitch streamer xQc has responded after fellow content creator Kaceytron accused him of using his audience to abuse and manipulate his former partner Adept. The confrontation comes after the most-watched Twitch streamer tacitly defended the abuse that conservative YouTuber Steven Crowder subjected Hilary Crowder, his ex-wife, to in a leaked video.
Crowder recently publicized that he and his former wife have been engaged in divorce proceedings since 2021. The announcement was shortly followed up by an exclusive Substack newsletter by Yashar Ali that included video from a Ring Camera located in the Crowder household. As the newsletter details, Steven is seen smoking near Hilary, who was nearly eight months pregnant at the time, and berating her for not doing her "wifely duties." Off-camera and moments after the available recording concludes, Ali writes that Steven yells and becomes increasingly angry. It is alleged that Hilary did not want to administer medicine to their dogs, due to concerns that it may be toxic for pregnant women, concerns that made Steven question her commitment to their marriage.
A Twitter account titled xQcChatMessages is a bot that tweets every message xQc types in his Twitch chat, and revealed that the streamer had been questioning why people were jumping to "[ridiculous] conclusions from leaked video/audio." He continued by claiming that "most negative interactions look like 'abuse' when you leak specific clips" and cited the Johnny Depp/Amber Heard trial as evidence of his claims. Kaceytron then wrote messages in Hascord, the Discord server of leftist Twitch streamer Hasan Piker, that criticized xQc's opinion and stated it is "a massive redflag" that he did not believe what was shown in the leaked Crowder video to be abuse.
Kaceytron continued, claiming that "XQC has used his massive audience to manipulate and abuse and harass Adept." XQc and Adept are currently embroiled in a highly scrutinized legal dispute pertaining to their marital status. In response, xQc has described Kaceytron's perspective as "unhinged" in a clip from his stream that is linked below. He also mentions that "Hasan speculated," which refers to comments made by Hasan Piker about xQc's initial opinion of the Crowder video. Piker believed that xQc was defensive because his own relationship with Adept has been mired with allegations of abuse. Piker also emphasized that there is nothing of the sort between xQc and Adept.
Kaceytron has since made a Twitter thread that documents thinly veiled insults xQc seemingly directed at her, such as "the weight of that thing is [measured] on the richter scale." XQc subsequently claimed his comments were directed at the "dark souls boss 'smough'," but many have determined that to be unconvincing. Kaceytron has also called attention to a recent YouTube video posted by xQc titled "This Disgusting Streamer Started Drama With Me" and quotes Kaceytron in the thumbnail as having said "xQc is a manipulator and abuser." However, this contradicts her own words in Hascord that clearly state "I don't think xQc is a straight up abuser."
