UFC 5 is a complex fighting game with several mechanics and systems to learn. The striking game is where most people start the fight, with many opting to stay on their feet throughout the contest. Unfortunately, like its predecessors, many players will encounter pressure fighters or spammers who focus on obliterating an opponent's guard with repetitive combos that feel impossible to counter. This is certainly a situation that will be frustrating for many newer players.
Countering in UFC 5 isn't easy, especially if there is some input delay with online fights. So, trying to maintain distance and regain the momentum of combat is the key to fighting back against pressure fighters and block breakers and increasing chances of emerging victorious.
UFC 5: How To Perform Takedowns And Defend Against Them
Understanding takedowns is vital in UFC 5; here's to perform, deny, and reverse them.
Creating Distance In UFC 5
There are several ways to keep distance in the UFC 5 arena. The following steps can be used to create and maintain distance in a fight:
Stay At Arms Length
The trick to this method is to try to judge the fighter's arm length and aim to keep an opponent at the end of a punch. Quickly flick the L-stick backward to keep the distance and throw short combinations of left jabs and rights (or left in southpaw) in UFC 5 to hit them as they move forward.
Plant The Feet
Pressure fighters aim to get their opponent's back pressed against the cage. Instead of continuously backing up, plant the feet and throw a straight right or left as they approach. Strikes land faster and hit harder when the fighter isn't moving too much. As a result, the player will often beat the opponent to the punch and land with more damage because it registers as a counterattack.
Use The Push Away Move
UFC 5 players can push their opponents by holding the block button by pressing R2 on the PlayStation or RT on the Xbox and the X and Square or X and A on the Xbox buttons together. After pushing an opponent away, players should follow it up with a quick strike.
Use The Push Kick
By pressing L2 + R1 + Circle or Square on the PlayStation or LT + RB + B or A on the Xbox, the fighter can perform a push kick to the body. This will damage the opponent's midsection, and their stamina gauge will drop and maintain distance.
