You can't have a gacha game without having some form of currency for upgrades, and in Umamusume: Pretty Derby, Money (or Monies, in-game) is what you'll need to give your trainees the edge they need to win more races. You'll likely get Monies simply by playing, but if you want to maximize your earnings, you'll need to play the right races.
If you're having trouble getting your trainees' stats in Umamusume up, then some upgrades are likely warranted. These can get pretty expensive, however, and for that, you'll need to keep a nice stock of Monies handy.
How to Play the Claw Machine Game in Umamusume Pretty Derby
Pulling out plushies (aka cuties) from the Claw Machine helps you complete the Release Celebration 1 task and rewards you with training hints.
Best Way to Get Money in Umamusume
Playing through a trainee's career or story mode will net you a nice amount of Monies in total, but in order to really start stacking cash as soon as possible, you'll want to complete your Daily Races. You can find the Daily Race option in the Race tab at the bottom of the main menu screen. It's right between the Home and Scout buttons. You can use any of your owned characters to participate in these races.
As their name implies, Daily Races are limited, with players only being able to participate in six races per day. Each race consumes a ticket, and when you're all out of tickets, you won't be able to race anymore until you get more tickets the following day.
Daily Races are divided by difficulty and race length, with harder races being more rewarding. You'll start with just Easy mode available, but placing first in each race difficulty, you'll unlock the next difficulty level.
Ideally, you should be doing Hard races to get the most money per racing ticket. However, if you can't comfortably place in the top three in every Hard race you compete in, you're better off playing Normal races.
You'll get a Participation reward in Umamusume Daily Races regardless of whether you win or lose. Easy rewards 1000 Monies, Normal gives 2000, and Hard gives 3000. You get bonus Monies depending on how well your trainee places at the end of the race.
Umamusume Career Mode
A complete Career mode playthrough should reward players with about 10,000 Monies if they manage to win every race, and this does not include any potential Missions that might reward them with Monies, SP, or even Carats. If you're playing Umamusume and you want to get Monies fast, you should at least play one Career run and all of your Daily Missions every day.
Playing Career mode is also great for improving your Trainees for Daily and Team Races. If you're having trouble beating Hard Daily Races, then spend some time training one of your runners in Career mode.
