At first glance, you may think that Umamusume is a game about cute girl horse racing. In fact, it is much closer to a real sports simulator than you would initially imagine. This is because, most of the time, players need to train their trainees to increase their stats. The higher the character's stats, the more likely it is that she will take the top 3 in the race. Moreover, training will unlock new skills for you to learn. To increase the effectiveness of training several times, you should use the Friendship Bonds feature in Umamusume.

When choosing a training type, you can find icons of your Support Cards on the right side of the screen. Usually, they are randomly selected, although they all affect the growth of your character's stats. The more your Friendship Bonds match with the selected Support Cards, the more effectively you will train. It's worth noting that this affects not only the stat growth bonuses of your character but also the unlocking of new skills. In addition, such training can trigger several events that can further upgrade your trainee and even improve her mood.

When your Friendship bar with one of the cards turns orange, you will unlock Friendship Training. This special training is triggered from time to time and gives a huge boost to your character's stats.

This way, you can quickly increase Friendship Bonds and unlock new bonuses for training and abilities. For the latter, you will still need to spend Skill Points to learn new abilities.

Alternatively, you can level up Support Cards in Umamusume. This affects their bonuses, but more importantly, increases the initial Friendship Bonds bar. In other words, you will need much less training to get to Friendship Training when using leveled-up Support Cards.
