The official website and X (formerly known as Twitter) account of the Undead Unluck anime revealed yesterday, August 1, that the anime will be getting a 1-hour special in Winter 2025.

The news came with a short teaser trailer and "super" teaser visual which featured what appears to be Juiz's sword lodged in the ground in a blizzard-beaten tundra. The upcoming special will likely be the set up for subsequent sequel announcements for the series.

The Announcement Was Made Months Ago

During the series' panel at AnimeExpo held back in March, it was revealed that there was a big announcement in the works for Undead Unluck, with August 1 long having been set as the reveal date for the aforementioned news. Now we know that the exciting announcement is the hour-long special set to drop sometime in Winter 2025, there is a bigger chance for the second season of the anime. Based on the events that took place in the latter stages of Undead Unluck season 1, the teaser visual and trailer's reference to the "loops", the special will very likely be a foray into the battle against the UMA known as "Winter", which follows logically from their intense battle against Autumn.

About Undead Unluck Season 1

Basic Information

The first season of Undead Unluck ran for 24 episodes from October 2023 to March 2024, adapting the story taken from Yoshifumi Tozuka's manga of the same name currently published in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine since January 2020. The anime was produced by staff at David Production, the same production studio that gave us Fire Force and the current iteration of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure anime. Season 1 was directed by Yuki Yase (director, Monogatari Series: Second), with scripts written by Sei Tsugata and Yamato Haishima, who also wrote the script for Fire Force. The series has music by Kenichiro Suehiro, and character designs by Hideyuki Morioka ( character designs, Sayonara Zetsubō Sensei ).
