Hollow Knight: Silksong features an expansive map with branching pathways that lead to several regions that could otherwise be missable. However, if you stick to the main path, you'll find yourself visiting the Great Citadel in Act Two, which is a late-game area. Before players can explore the main halls, they'll first have to go through the lower section of the Citadel known as Underworks. Here's where to find the map of the area to make exploration easier.

Where to Find the Map of Underworks in Silksong
As players enter the Great Citadel in Silksong, they'll enter an elevator that is supposed to take them to the main halls. However, due to a malfunction in its machinery, the elevator plummets down, taking the Hornet beneath the Citadel known as Underworks.
The area is completely dark and desolate, in contrast to the bright and welcoming halls we've just entered through. The first thing players will need to do is put 15 Rosary Beads into the machine to release a bench so they can rest up and restore health.
Next, exit out of the chamber to the right to reach the main area of the Underworks. You'll encounter some flying enemies here that will attack you while you're making the climb to the top. So, it's recommended to take them out before reaching the top to get the map.
Proceed to climb the walls of the area using the "Cling Grip" (wall climb) ability. After climbing up high enough (mid-way), you'll spot a golden lever to the left, which you can interact with to lower a boulder on the right. This will open up a pathway for the Hornet to reach the top without obstructions.
Keep heading to the top until you find two pathways on both the left and the right. The pathway towards the right will take you further into the Underworks, while the one of the left (with a signboard), will help you acquire the map first.
So, enter the area with the signboard to the left to spot an interactable wooden board in a dimly lit room. Once you choose to interact with the wooden board, Hornet will receive the map for the Underworks in Silksong. While it's helpful, this is a different way to obtain a map of an area, compared to before, where you had to purchase the maps from Shakra.
