Like the real sport of boxing, Undisputed is a battle more akin to a chess match than a fast-paced fight like the Tekken or Streetfighter series. Good fighters will create and look for openings to either beat their opponents by knockout or a win on the judge's scorecards. A great way to do this is by using feints. Feints in boxing involve pretending to throw a punch to prompt an opponent to flinch or overreact.

This creates openings and paints a picture of what kind of player/fighter you're dealing with. Unfortunately, using the feint mechanic in Undisputed isn't explained well in the game's controls menu and isn't as easy to use as in UFC 5. This guide demonstrates how to use feints effectively during boxing matches in Undisputed.

How To Use Feints In Undisputed

Undisputed Wilder missing power punches-1

The controls menu provides a basic overview of Undisputed' s punching mechanics. Unfortunately, it only tells you one of the required button presses to throw a feint when you need two. The control setup explains that the feint is the same button as the taunt, but this is only half true. To execute a feint in Undisputed, press left on the D-pad along with any punch button simultaneously, or left and the right stick.

Although feints don't appear to work against computer-controlled opponents, they're a great tool in online matches.

Controller Inputs For Feints

PlayStation

  • Head Punches: D-Pad Left + Square, X, Triangle, or Circle. To feint an uppercut press D-Pad Left + Square + X, Circle + Triangle or D-Pad Left and the R-Stick.
  • Body Punches: D-Pad Left + L1 + Square, X, Triangle, Circle, Square + X. For feinted body uppercuts press D-Pad Left + Circle + Triangle or D-Pad Left + L1 and the R-Stick.

Xbox Controls

  • Head Punches: D-Pad Left + Cross, A, Y, or B. To feint an uppercut press, Cross + A, Circle + Y, or D-Pad Left and the R-Stick.
  • Body Punches: D-Pad Left + LB + D-Pad Left + Cross, A, Y, B. For feinted body uppercuts press D-Pad Left + Cross + A, Circle + Triangle + Triangle or D-Pad Left + L1 + the R-Stick

Simultaneously pressing left on the D-Pad and attacking can be awkward and may require some practice to transition from a feint to a real punch, but stick with it. Using a feint can create openings — if an opponent reacts and covers up their face, you can attack the body (and vice versa). It's also another way to create opportunities to land counterpunches by firing back with combos on opponents spamming the power punch in online modes.
