As you step deeper into the Drakenhold nation in Unicorn Overlord, you'll find the enemy units you're up against in each stage will become increasingly more difficult. You'll need to up the power of your units for each of these stages, and ensure you are taking advantage of each enemy's weaknesses.

In the Beyond the Swirling Sands Side Quest, you'll have the chance to recruit Magellan to your team, a powerful Sellsword with destructive Physical attacks. In this side quest, however, you'll be up against a slew of difficult enemies that require particular team members to take down. Here's how to finish the Beyond the Swirling Sands quest.

Where to Find Beyond the Swirling Sands

To find the Beyond the Swirling Sands Side Quest in Unicorn Overlord, you'll want to make your way southeast to the Drakenhold nation. As you follow the dirt path in Drakenhold that is headed south in the western region, you'll eventually pass by Dreibaum Town. Just below here, a cutscene will begin with Aubin that will introduce the Beyond the Swirling Sands quest.

Keep heading south, and you'll unlock the Beyond the Swirling Sands quest just to the right of Weszait Town. You'll find it right at the fork in the road, and you can start it whenever you want. Remember that the Enemy Level will be at 11, so you'll want to make sure you're around that level or higher.

Recommended Units for Beyond the Swirling Sands

Once you begin the Beyond the Swirling Sands quest, you'll want to take into account the different enemies you'll be up against. This includes:

Thief
Wyvern Knight
Witch
Gladiator

Each of these class types has different weaknesses that you'll want to take advantage of and bring the proper characters to defeat them. Here are the weaknesses of the enemies, just in case you'd like to choose your own teams:

Thief: Weak to Hunters and Swordfighters
Wyvern Knight: Weak to Soldiers, Wizards, and Featherswords
Witch: Weak to Radiant Knights and Hunters
Gladiator: Weak to Thieves and Cavalry (Fighter, Gryphon Knight, Hoplite, etc.)

While you can choose to create your own unit formation, there are a few recommended teams you can bring along that will be especially useful. It is also advised to expand some of your units to include at least 4 characters to get maximum damage to your enemies.

How to Beat Beyond the Swirling Sands in Unicorn Overlord

In this quest, there will be three different areas with specific enemies. To the north, you'll find a bunch of Wyvern Knights, Radiant Knights, and Archers. For this section, you'll want to send Ochlys' Unit here, and they should have no problem taking down all of these teams in two or fewer battles.

As for the enemies found in the yellow circles, these will mostly be sorcerers and a few Radiant Knights. Send Melisandre's Unit to take on these enemies, and they should be good at taking all of them out with no problem as well.

As for the last region of enemies, leading up to Magellan's Unit, you'll find some Archers, Gladiators, and Knights. If you send Fran's Unit in this direction, they will be able to take all of them out, including the Zenoiran Dark Knight Unit in Bousin Ruins. However, to defeat Magellan's Unit, you won't want to send Fran's Unit in. Instead, send Ochlys' Unit here, and Magellan will be defeated in a couple of battles. Remember to pay attention to your Valor Points and Stamina to ensure your units are readily able to fight.

There will be sandstorms during this stage. Send a unit to stand on the Watchtowers found throughout the area to make it easier to see all the enemy units. We also recommend using Unicorn Overlord's Valor Skills on nearby Thieves to knock them out and prevent them from stealing money.
