Within Unicorn Overlord, many locations can only be visited once you've unlocked a particular character. This includes the cemeteries found throughout the five nations, the many different carvings, and even the Stone Circles you'll find tucked away in small towns and forests.
When you first approach these Stone Circles, you'll find that you are barred from access without the right character to help you decode them. This means, that to unlock every Stone Circle and obtain the rewards they have to offer, you'll need to find a new character to add to the Liberation Army while on your adventures.

How to Interact With Stone Circles in Unicorn Overlord
As you start to uncover the many Stone Circles found throughout the region of Cornia at the beginning of the game, you won't be able to decipher them without the right character in your team. In particular, Unicorn Overlord players will need to find and recruit Ithilion, a character that can be unlocked after completing The Elven Knight, a Side Quest found within the Elheim region.
How to Recruit Ithilion in Unicorn Overlord
To find The Elven Knight Side Quest, make your way to Simtukka Town, found in the southeastern region of Elheim, shown in the map image above. Just below the town, you'll unlock The Elven Knight quest, which has an enemy Level of 18. If you need to increase your level, check out this Unicorn Overlord guide on how to level up quickly.
There are many different enemies you'll take on in this quest, but the majority will be Elven Fencers, Breakers, and Legionnaires. With these, you'll want to bring along some characters from these classes:
- Swordfighters
- Thieves
- Gladiators
- Witches
- Wizards
- Warriors
This quest will be an easy win, especially once Ithilion's unit reaches yours and joins the rest of your deployed units. All you will need to do is beat Magali's Unit at their Command Post, which has a Legionnaire, Warrior, Breaker, and Witch in the unit. Upon completing the quest, Ithilion will officially join the Liberation Army.
Now that you have Ithilion, you can return to any of the Stone Circles you've uncovered, and Ithilion will be able to interact with them for you. Choose "Examine," and Ithilion will search the Stone Circle you've discovered, and she will provide you with two Star Irons.

What Do Stone Circles Do in Unicorn Overlord
As mentioned before, whenever you've searched through a Stone Circle, you will receive two Star Irons in return. There are many Stone Circles you can unlock throughout the nations, and the Star Irons you receive from them can be used when you eventually arrive in Bastorias.
You'll find a few monuments within Bastorias where you can trade in the Star Irons you've gathered. These monuments can be found in the eastern region after you've fixed the bridge in the Bridge SE of Bastoritza Overworld Quest. There are five monuments, which will give you the following weapons in exchange for 5 Star Irons each:
- Meteorite Rod
- Meteorite Bow
- Meteorite Axe
- Meteorite Spear
- Meteorite Sword
To fix this bridge, you'll need to get 30 Bastrite Stones. You can pick up this item from the Bastorias Quarry, found in the western area of Bastorias, near to Zagatul Harbor. You won't be able to use any previously discovered quarries for this one, unfortunately, as they'll only provide you with Corsite Stone instead.
