The Best-Looking PS5 Games, Ranked

The best-looking games on the PlayStation 5 feature remarkable visuals and are a must-play for players who appreciate games with stunning graphics.

Over 140 different games have already been built with this engine, which is really impressive considering that it has only been available for three years. Of course, some of these titles are still in development, but many others are already out, and they have already captivated gamers with their beautiful graphics. A lot of Unreal Engine 5 games look ridiculously good, but the following are the most noteworthy examples (so far).

Black Myth: Wukong is a brand-new, challenging action RPG set in a fascinating world inspired by the piece of classic Chinese literature known as Journey to the West. Needless to say, it was a critical and commercial success that quickly gained a massive following for many reasons (like its combat, its bosses, etc.), and its stunning presentation was definitely one of them.

Every single thing in Black Myth: Wukong looks amazing: each character model – from the Destined One to all the dangerous beasts he has to face – is brimming with detail, and the environments are absolutely breathtaking. This game was in development for approximately four years, and the long wait was definitely worth it.

In 2017, Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice captivated audiences with its surprisingly dark psychological horror themes and minimalistic gameplay, all of which were brought to life with Unreal Engine 4. Naturally, Ninja Theory used the engine’s next version to build its direct sequel, Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, which ended up looking even better.

At first glance, Hellblade 2 looks like a conventional action RPG that takes place in a Nordic setting, so yes, all the environments, weapons, monsters, and characters look incredibly realistic, with Senua herself being the most remarkable. But this game also has intense psychological horror elements that help explore the titular character’s psychosis, and this is all brilliantly portrayed with creepy and surreal imagery that makes the overall experience even more interesting.

Remaking Silent Hill 2, a game that had already wowed PlayStation 2 users in 2001 with its surprisingly advanced graphics, was always going to be a tall task. But, despite some reservations from general audiences, Bloober Team surpassed all expectations, and its Silent Hill 2 remake became one of the biggest hits of 2024.

The presentation of a survival horror game is way more important than it may seem, because it’s the tool that developers use to create a dark and scary atmosphere. If just one little thing looks slightly off, it could quickly break the immersion and, thus, ruin the entire experience. Fortunately for Bloober Team, this didn’t end up happening, as Silent Hill 2 is a depressing and terrifying immersive adventure from beginning to end, with impressive life-like character models, highly detailed environments, and cinematic cut scenes. Curiously enough, while the original used fog to hide its limited draw distance, the remake brilliantly uses it to make the atmosphere even more ominous.

Unreal Engine 5 has obviously been used to bring many dark, gritty, and/or action-packed titles to life, but this engine is very malleable and adaptable, meaning that it can also be used to create more colorful and relaxed experiences. There are many lighthearted Unreal Engine 5 games out there, but 2024’s Infinity Nikki is one of the best examples.

Epic Games Store: A Comprehensive List Of Every Free Game It's Had To Date

Here's a list of all the games that have been made free on the Epic Games Store. You have until January 22 to get the current free games.

This is a free-to-play game that combines action-adventure gameplay with life simulator elements and dress-up mechanics. Of course, the fantastical open world that players can explore is vibrant and beautiful, but the graphical capabilities of Unreal Engine 5 were put to perfect use during the game’s cozier segments. After all, every single piece of clothing, every accessory, every haircut, and every make-up option has to look as detailed as possible, so players can freely pick and choose whichever they want to give Nikki the style they have in mind, and that aspect of the Infinity Nikki experience certainly didn’t disappoint.

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion had already surprised players back in 2006 with its detailed and ambitious open-world map, and history repeated itself five years later, when its direct sequel, The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, featured an even bigger and more beautiful world. However, Bethesda shocked everyone when it suddenly shadow-dropped The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered earlier this year.

Despite its title, this feels more like a remake than a remaster, especially considering that it was built from the ground up with Unreal Engine 5. The fantastical land of Cyrodiil has never looked so good, since every single environment is ridiculously beautiful. Even the NPC models received a significant upgrade, since they no longer have that odd uncanniness from the original game. Truth be told, the amazing graphics of Oblivion Remastered elevate the entire experience, thus making it the perfect way to experience this classic game.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is undoubtedly one of the biggest gaming surprises of 2025, as it quickly gained a massive fan base and has very high chances of winning Game of the Year in December. This is very good news, of course, because Sandfall Interactive is a small team of talented developers who brought this RPG masterpiece to life with Unreal Engine 5.

It might seem counterintuitive, but these PC games are much better if you use a controller instead of the old mouse and keyboard.

Like many other games on this list, Expedition 33 possesses realistic graphics that look absolutely amazing (especially when taking a look at the life-like human models), but Sandfall Interactive knew exactly how and where to use color and stylization to make the game stand out even more. It worked perfectly in the end, because Expedition 33 is an outstanding adventure with a defined art style that makes each character, weapon, enemy, and boss look like nothing gamers have ever seen before.

Unreal Engine was created by Epic Games for its Unreal Tournament series, and the award-winning studio kept using and upgrading it for many of its subsequent releases. This obviously includes Gears of War, which was made with Unreal Engine 3 and looked really impressive in 2006. Nineteen years after that, Microsoft went back to this revolutionary third-person shooter and made a modern remake titled Gears of War: Reloaded.

Of course, Epic Games has nothing to do with this remake, seeing as it is busy handling Fortnite and making new versions of Unreal Engine, but developer The Coalition still managed to use Unreal Engine 5 to breathe new life into this classic shooter so it can be enjoyed by modern audiences. Hyperrealistic graphics almost always age horribly, so the original game was in dire need of a new coat of paint, and Reloaded does exactly that: Marcus Fenix and his team look great, the Locust enemies look more terrifying than ever, and the fast-paced action is both exciting and satisfying.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is one of the greatest video games of all time, and its life-like PS2 presentation was already extremely impressive back in 2005. Remaking this beloved masterpiece was always going to be extremely difficult, especially without the involvement of its director, Hideo Kojima. Fortunately and unexpectedly, Konami knocked it out of the park because Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater just came out and is already shaping out to be one of the best-looking video game remakes in the industry.

This game’s biggest strength is the fact that it never tries to change or ruin what had already worked in the original. Metal Gear Solid Delta is basically the same experience (with some minor exceptions), but Konami just focused on making it look even better, and this mentality worked perfectly. Hideo Kojima clearly designed this to be a cinematic experience, and while he succeeded in 2005, the impressive, realistic graphics of this remake elevate that sentiment even further. Additionally, the core gameplay of Metal Gear Solid Delta revolves around Naked Snake using his surroundings to hide from enemies, so it was important that the environments looked as life-like and detailed as possible.
