The remake of Supermassive Games' Until Dawn is experiencing various issues, causing significant grief for players. Until Dawn is suffering from a low player count compared to other PlayStation games Sony has launched on Valve's platform.

Until Dawn was released in 2015 for the PlayStation 4 and received a complete remake using Unreal Engine 5 in 2024. The game features eight friends who must survive the night in a lodge against never-ending nightmares, with player choices that can completely alter the story. The remake for Until Dawn does have a few changes from the original, but it is largely the same. Unfortunately, fans find that the remake has several issues, causing them to turn away from the game on Steam.

How Old Are The Characters In Until Dawn?

The main characters in Until Dawn are of different ages, and one is older than the rest.

According to the tracking website SteamDB, Until Dawn had a peak concurrent player count of only 2,067 on Steam on the day it launched. Compared to other PlayStation titles that made the jump to PC, including Ghost of Tsushima and God of War, that number is incredibly low. Several reviews on the game's Steam page note various reasons, including ray tracing and DLSS not working, a change in the soundtrack, and graphical issues. Other reviews note that the controversial PlayStation Network account requirement was also a major factor.

Players Are Experiencing Various Issues in the Until Dawn Remake

Ballistic Moon updated the Until Dawn Steam page to acknowledge the different issues. The post asks players to send any technical issues or bugs they experience to a specialized email address along with the platform, game version, and PC specs used. Additionally, it commented on several recurring issues that it has already been made aware of, including the malfunctioning of HDR and AMD FSR frame generation settings. Ideally, the fixes will help bring up the 'mixed' reviews that Until Dawn has.

Unfortunately, Ballistic Moon will likely not address many of the issues players are experiencing. While some, including the graphics and framerate generation settings, will be addressed, it is doubtful that the team will add the old soundtrack or remove the account connection requirement. The latter is especially so since all PlayStation games are expected to have this PSN requirement. Until these issues are fixed, Steam players will need to play the Until Dawn remake with them included, while disgruntled fans continue to leave reviews based on their experience.
