Summary
- Until Dawn remake offers over 250 possible variations of three main endings based on choices made in the game.
- Achieving the best ending (Everyone Lives) in the remake requires specific choices and actions for each character throughout the chapters.
- Players can save Rami Malek's character Josh in Ballistic Moon's remake, which was not possible in the 2015 original version.
Based on the choices made in Ballistic Moon's Until Dawn remake (as was the case for Supermassive Games' 2015 original), there are over 250 possible variations of three main endings (everyone lives, everyone dies, and some characters live) depending on the choices made throughout the game. The best ending requires all eight of the main characters to survive until dawn in some capacity (even if they're a little banged up), which is actually an easier feat to achieve than it may seem.
9 Best Horror Games That Mess With Your Mind
While some horror games rely on gore and jump scares, these games take a more psychological approach by slowly worming their way into players' minds.
Until Dawn features totems that trigger premonitions and many narrative clues that make it easier to keep everyone alive, but some of the more specific choices can be daunting. There are 22 different choices to be made, some of which have multiple decisions, and many of these choices trigger Butterfly Effect events. In Ballistic Moon's remake of Until Dawn, Rami Malek's character Josh can also be saved — a possibility that did not exist (technically) in the 2015 version.
Here are all the choices to achieve the Best Ending (Everyone Lives) in Ballistic Moon's Until Dawn remake.

1 In Which Chapters Can Each Until Dawn Character Die?
Although every playable character in Until Dawn can perish in the end, some of them can die quite early on in the story, whereas others are physically incapable of being killed until the very last hurdle. There's nothing more soul-crushing than keeping everyone alive until Chapter 10 just for all of them to drop like flies in a span of 10 minutes.
Here are the chapters in which every Until Dawn character can die:
- Sam: Chapter 10 ONLY
- Chris: Chapter 8, Chapter 9
- Jessica: Chapter 4, Chapter 10
- Emily: Chapter 8, Chapter 10
- Matt: Chapter 6, Chapter 10
- Mike: Chapter 10 ONLY
- Ashley: Chapter 9, Chapter 10
- Josh: Chapter 10 ONLY
As mentioned, in the original 2015 version of Until Dawn by Supermassive Games, it wasn't possible to save Josh — at least not in the traditional sense. It was possible to save him from getting his head squished like a grape, but if he managed to escape the Wendigo's wrath, he would be dragged further into the mines and meet the same unfortunate fate as his sisters, Hannah and Beth. If Josh remains trapped in the mines, he resorts to cannibalism to release the spirit of the Wendigo and turns into one himself. In a post-credits scene, Josh can be seen chowing down on the head of the Stranger, who dies after getting his head slashed clean off by the Wendigo in Chapter 8.
