  • Final Destination: Bloodlines trailer is the second most viewed in horror history with 178.7 million views.

  • While trailer views don't ensure box office success, the film is statistically on the right track for its May 16, 2025 release.

The chilling stench of death has returned in Final Destination: Bloodlines’ and millions of viewers are in on it. 24 hours after the debut of its first official trailer, it’s one of the most viewed of all time in the horror genre.

After a fourteen-year absence, New Line Cinema ventures back into its iconic Final Destination horror franchise of the ever-persistent force of Death that revenges those temporarily lucky enough to escape its initial cold grasp. The bloodbath of the sixth Final Destination installment stars Kaitlyn Santa Juana, Teo Briones, Richard Harmon, Gabrielle Rose, and Rya Kihlstedt, members of a family entangled in Death’s merciless design — and perhaps facing its cruelest justice yet — and their search for permanent salvation.

Final Destination: Bloodlines Boasts the Second Most Viewed Horror Trailer in History

178.7 Million Views in 24 Hours

Final Destination: Bloodlines debuted a teaser trailer on February 3, but an official trailer was only released on March 25. According to Deadline, the roughly two-and-a-half-minute clip gathered 178.7 million views across all platforms (including Tiktok) in its first 24 hours making it the second most viewed horror trailer of all time — bested only by the 200 million of New Line Cinema’s own 2017 horror hit remake, It. Even excluding the often-contested boost of TikTok views, Final Destination: Bloodlines’ trailer still beats fellow highly-anticipated horror flick 28 Years Later in first-day views.

Whether it’s the return of Death’s signature Rube Goldberg machine-like tactics — a shard of glass in an iced drink, a pointy garden rake underneath a trampoline, or a menacing lawnmower — the much-needed appearance of the late Tony Todd as Death’s messenger, William Bludworth, or the usual unsettling premonitions, it’s clear that horror fans intend to buy what New Line Cinema is selling. This is hardly a surprise, given that the Final Destination franchise is commercially successful — $666 million across six films on a combined $154 million budget — and even more on the global appeal front as it’s established itself as a cult classic.

Final Destination: Bloodlines trailer traffic is good news for any stakeholder involved, but as proven over the years, trailer traffic is not always commensurate to box office success. A “recent” example is the $441 million finish of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts in 2024, which wasn’t exactly compatible with the 238 million first-day views of its December 1, 2023, trailer — currently the fifth most viewed in history. Similarly, Thor: Love and Thunder made headlines with its 209 million trailer views (the second highest for a non-Avengers MCU IP at the time) but failed to translate to the billion or near-billion-dollar success that some predicted, settling for $760 million instead.

Still, Final Destination: Bloodlines record means it is statistically on the right track. The trailer suggests that directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein plan to stick to most of what made the previous movies beloved while inserting new twists. And with the 25-year success of the franchise, it’ll be a huge risk to bet against this movie following the same line.

Final Destination: Bloodlines is scheduled for release on May 16, 2025.
