Gathering and crafting are two of the most important things when it comes to progressing in V Rising. However, while going out into the world is the main way of acquiring materials, players can also grow some ingredients in their own backyard by way of gardening.
Building castles in V Rising is an excellent change of pace from an otherwise fast action game. Not only is it relaxing, but improving your home base can also lead to better resource production. Gardening is great for adding a bit of extra character to your castle, and if you plant the right seeds, you'll eventually get a sustainable source of ingredients for crafting. If you're not sure how to start gardening, here's a quick guide to show you how.
V Rising: How To Change Appearance
You can tweak your vampire's appearance in V Rising via a number of ways. Here's how to do it.
How To Make A Garden in V Rising
First, you'll need to beat Polora the Feywalker in order to unlock the essentials of gardening, namely Growing Plots, which you'll need before you can plant seeds in V Rising. Like all bosses, you can find her by tracking her blood in the V Blood menu. She will always be at the western end of the Farbane Woods.
You can unlock more decorations by defeating higher-level bosses or researching recipes.
Once Polora's dead, you can then start planting seeds. To do this, simply place a Growing Plot anywhere within your castle's territory, then select a seed on your hotbar. Large plants, such as trees, require Large Growing Plots. After this, wait for a few in-game days, and your plants will be ready for harvesting.
You don't necessarily need to use Garden tiles for this. You can put Growing Plots anywhere, even inside your base. In previous versions of the game, you could place seeds directly onto the ground, but now, you'll always need to place Growing Plots first.
Gardening is a great way to get large amounts of Cotton safely in V Rising. Normally, you have to risk Garlic Exposure to get these plants. However, if you grow them in your castle, you'll be able to get as many as you want without getting that nasty debuff.
Garden Decoration Tips
If you want to make a garden just for the pure aesthetic of it, here are a few tips to help you get started:
- Large Growing Plots can hold up to seven plants at a time, and they will always be arranged in an octagonal shape.
- Use statues, braziers, and tall hedges to fill in any gaps between hedgerows.
- Use different Path and Castle Foundation types to create contrast in your garden.
- Start by walling or fencing off your garden, then place paths to get a feel for how your garden will flow.
- Consider dividing your garden into multiple sections if the area is too big.
