Developer Stunlock Studios has revealed that the Invaders of Oakveil update, Patch 1.1, for its role-playing survival game V Rising will be launching on April 28. The full version of V Rising was released on PC and PlayStation 5 in mid-2024, and the game quickly gained a loyal following thanks to its engaging gameplay loop, challenging bosses, appealing art style, and expansive base-building mechanics. Boasting an 83 average critic score on OpenCritic and a “Very Positive” user rating on Steam, Stunlock’s latest game has something to offer for solo gamers, co-op players, and PVPers alike.
In V Rising, the player is a re-awakened vampire, and as such, almost everything is an enemy, including the sun. Keeping to the shadows to avoid taking damage or venturing out at night to wreak havoc untethered, hunting down vampire hunters, and establishing a stronghold are the primary goals. The fledgling vampire gathers its strength, exploring the open world’s five biomes, invading human cities, and enthralling other creatures in V Rising to do its bidding.
V Rising Reaches Impressive Sales Milestone
The open-world vampire survival game V Rising reaches an impressive sales milestone more than two years after its initial early access release.
The Invaders of Oakveil update, which releases on April 28, will usher the game into version 1.1. Players will have a fresh biome, the Oakveil Woodlands, to terrorize as they battle new enemies and wrest additional skills from defeated bosses. Each of the seven spell schools in V Rising will receive a new spell to experiment with, and returning vampires may appreciate the update's combat overhaul that Stunlock is calling the biggest to date. Gear has been rebalanced, stats tweaked, and even blood types have been adjusted.
Invaders of Oakveil Takes V Rising to Version 1.1
In a previous developer update, Stunlock gave fans a sneak peek at the three new weapons coming to V Rising with Invaders of Oakveil. The Twinblade is a dual-bladed staff that can hit enemies from a distance with its Javelin attack, which also allows the player to dash to where it’s landed or pull impaled foes to them. The Claws have been highly requested by the community and can inflict a stacking Puncture effect that, when maxed, causes an AOE damage explosion. The third weapon being introduced to V Rising in Patch 1.1 are the Throwing Daggers, for those who like to eviscerate opponents from afar.
Also coming to Invaders of Oakveil are new castle features and cosmetic items, which may draw back players who really enjoyed V Rising’s base-building. Not much has been revealed about what fans can expect, but Stunlock has promised that more details will be forthcoming in the time leading up to the update’s release. These will hopefully include additional information about the new battle arena and dueling mechanic arriving in 1.1.
