With an extremely successful Kickstarter campaign, Valerion has shown that there is still a market for projectors, even as TVs and monitors get better and better. The company’s VisionMaster Pro 2 is a 4K RGB laser projector that’s relatively compact, capable of excellent picture, and is well worth a look for gamers.

Although the Valerion VisionMaster Pro 2 is touted as a cinema-grade projector, it has a lot of features that should appeal to gamers. The 4K resolution is the biggest selling point, ensuring you get the highest fidelity out of your console or PC games. The VisionMaster Pro 2 can deliver a 60Hz refresh rate at that 4K resolution, or if you drop it down to 1080p, it can reach up to 240Hz. With the stunning clarity and color reproduction of the projector, most will prefer the 4K60, but it’s nice to have the higher refresh rate option.

Sleek and Stylish, The VisionMaster Pro 2 is Plenty Powerful

Right out of the box, the Valerion VisionMaster Pro 2 delivers an incredible picture. I didn’t need to fiddle with settings or adjust colors; I could connect my PS5 Pro and start gaming. Valerion supports image and audio standards like Dolby Vision and Atmos, so you will get the most out of the VisionMaster Pro 2 regardless of media device. The projector also supports Google TV or Air Play, has a few gaming modes like racing or FPS, and its chipset ensures a fast and responsive user experience.

VisionMaster Pro 2's Features Make Customization Simple

A 4K projector with superb image quality would be well worth it on its own, but Valerion has packed the VisionMaster Pro 2 with useful features to make it even better. The auto focus and image correction will do the legwork of dialing in the presentation on your screen or wall, and keystone correction will help iron out any visual inconsistencies that might appear if the projector isn’t perfectly perpendicular with the display. For added precision, Valerion touts its Enhanced Black Level mode on the projector, which adjusts several different values for each frame to keep the contrast high and preserve clarity in darker and lighter scenes.

The fact that the VisionMaster Pro 2 does so much of the work for you is a huge boon and makes the sometimes-daunting projector setup that much easier. It does offer settings adjustments for any who want to dig through and dial in the picture, but I found that the VisionMaster Pro 2 was already stunning without messing with any settings.

It’s also a surprisingly small 4K projector that’s not particularly heavy. You could easily move it around without any trouble at all. And all of those auto adjustments will make it so you aren’t worried about having to use a different wall or screen and having to start all over again.

visionmaster pro 2 review - front view

For gamers, the Valerion VisionMaster Pro 2 is equipped with two HDMI 2.1 ports that will hit that 4K60 on anything from a PC to a PS5 Pro. There is also an HDMI 1.0 port that supports eARC if you want to hook up a sound bar, as well as an Ethernet port, and an optical audio port. It supports Wifi 6e and Bluetooth 5.2 for wireless connectivity as well.

And even though it’s a projector, the Valerion VisionMaster Pro 2 is surprisingly fast, with a 15ms response time at 4K60 or 4ms for 1080p240. Projectors can oftentimes be less than ideal for gaming because of that latency, but the VisionMaster Pro 2 was clearly designed with as wide of an appeal as possible.

Valerion VisionMaster Pro 2 Review: Final Thoughts

I have been very impressed with the Valerion VisionMaster Pro 2 in my time with it. If you have a home theater and are looking for a high-quality option, I highly recommend it, but it’s not limited to just that narrow group. With the size and weight that it is, the VisionMaster Pro 2 can work in a lot of different situations and deliver a beautiful picture regardless of projection surface. You can take a 300-inch white screen and get an incredibly clear and detailed 4K picture or find a 40-inch space on a white wall and be just as satisfied.

The main thing to be aware of with the VisionMaster Pro 2 is that, with that vivid picture and the auto adjustment tech, this is not a cheap projector. At $3,499, this isn’t going to be for the casual consumer, but for the enthusiast who values their display above all else. But where a high-quality TV might look as good, it is limited by size and portability. The Valerion VisionMaster Pro 2 brings its incredible picture to a lot of different setups, and that makes it well worth recommending.
