A Valheim player comedically dies to a chicken after the animal sets off an incredible domino effect of traps. Many players have been returning to Valheim thanks to the introduction of its version of Creative, known as Hammer mode.

With Valheim coming to Xbox Game Pass in March to expand its player base to Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, the community has grown by being a multi-platform title. Since Hammer mode was released, the survival game has seen an upswing in Steam players which has resulted in it being rank 58 in the most played category on the platform. While it remains in early access, Iron Gate studios regularly updates Valheim with content to prepare the game for a full launch and this patch has already inspired some hilarious experiences.

Reddit user NahNahNahNahNahYeah recently shared a clip of their experiences in Valheim in which they have rigged their house with traps that are connected to explosives. The video, which has been dubbed "The Clucking Menace," features a chicken that slowly follows the player into their Valheim house, but gets tripped up by the maze which is easily navigated by the Viking. As the character reaches their bed and goes to sleep, the chicken triggers one of the early traps and a chain reaction leads to the house being destroyed along with the animal and Valheim player.

Chickens were added in the Valheim Mistlands update and the animal is usually passive like deer, crows, and gulls, but NahNahNahNahNahYeah found a way to make it deadly. The impressive domino effect of the Valheim clip is part of the allure to some fans that have applauded both the effort involved in setting it up and getting the camera angles right. The video concludes with the Viking's dead body laying next to a tombstone instead of the bed that they had just occupied which may have been their Valheim spawn point.

Given the materials required to create this maze of traps and the explosives that respond to them being set off, it's likely that the player is utilizing Valheim Hammer mode, but they may be following an alternative method. Because NahNahNahNahNahYeah mentions that they used console commands to create their video of the chicken setting off the traps, it's possible that they're using a variety of these text-based options rather than Hammer mode.

Valheim is available in early access now for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
