Developer Iron Gate Studio recently revealed that Valheim will finally be released for PlayStation consoles in 2026. This is excellent news for PlayStation fans, as Valheim is one of the most popular survival games on the market, and it’s finally nearing its 1.0 release.
Valheim was released in early access for PC in 2021. The game sold over 3 million copies in less than a month, becoming a huge hit, and has seen 12 million units shipped since then. In 2023, Valheim was finally released for Xbox and added to Game Pass. However, the popular survival game is still not available on PlayStation consoles, a somewhat surprising move considering these platforms’ huge number of players.

Valheim Will Come to PlayStation Consoles in 2026
Fortunately, Iron Gate has finally announced that Valheim will be released for PlayStation consoles in 2026. According to the company’s co-founder, Henrik Törnqvist, the studio is excited to bring in more players and allow them to create stories in the Viking world of Valheim. Unfortunately, only a release window for the PlayStation launch was hinted at, and it’s still unknown exactly when players can expect the game's release on Sony devices. Iron Gate Studio is currently aiming to release the 1.0 version of Valheim by Spring 2026, so it’s uncertain whether the PlayStation port will arrive before that or simultaneously with the major update.
The latest announcement comes on the heels of Valheim’s Call to Arms update, which mostly improved gameplay in the title. Some of the improvements brought by the patch included a new resource called Adrenaline, which can be generated by hitting enemies, parrying, or more, and activates a perk based on a trinket equipped by the player when its bar is finally full. The patch also added Trinkets, which can be crafted by combining different trophies, and introduced wooden weapons to the game, allowing players to practice their skills against co-op partners without risking killing them in the process.
Right now, most players are eagerly awaiting the Deep North update for Valheim, which is expected to be the last one before the game finally enters 1.0. The Deep North biome will have new animals, such as seals, and new and powerful enemies to challenge gamers. Hopefully, this will mark a successful time for Valheim, as gamers will explore new lands, interact with more mechanics, and face even harder challenges in what seems to be the most advanced area of the game.
