Valheim has a great mix of gameplay mechanics that allow players the freedom to change their world and create new things. With this power, Valheim players have spent the time since the game’s release flexing their creativity with tributes and custom creations. In the latest example of this, one player created an amazing tribute to the Stargate franchise.
Valheim is a survival and sandbox game that drops players in an open but hostile world. The building mechanic allows for players to gather wood and stone and use these materials to create a wide variety of structures. The creator mentions SG-1 in their post which is a reference to Stargate SG-1, the television series that ran for 10 seasons between 1997 and 2007.
This player creation comes from u/OhhhBoyyyyy, and it is immediately recognizable for any Stargate SG-1 fan. In this player’s world sits an enormous Stargate that rests on a stone platform. The player mixed both wood and stone in this creation and even added runes to create more of Nordic feel for this science fiction piece of technology. The video pans across the structure and shows how it appears in both day and night. There are several blue torches that surround this structure as well as Valheim’s Thistle plants, which add a nice glow to the whole creation. The scene is reminiscent of the science fiction show while remaining within the aesthetic realm that Valheim players are accustomed to.
As viewers of the show may realize, visiting the world of Valheim may not be beneficial for the characters of Stargate SG-1. Though there are some powerful weapons in the game, the mythological world doesn’t have much in the way of advanced technologies nor helpful allies. For those players looking to recreate this structure, they are going to need to add on multiple mods including Gizmo, ColorfulSigns, and PlantEverything.
While the building system within Valheim can lead to some impressive creations, mods can take player creativity to new heights. Mods help expand on the successful base that the game lays out and allows players more freedom to expand and push the game to its limits.
On the other hand, mods are not for everyone. Survival games especially attract players who like the challenge of the base game’s mechanics. While mods can lead to more intense buildings, they may feel like too much of an expansion for some. Either way, this creation is an impressive tribute to a memorable series.
Valheim is available now for PC.
