Developer Luca "Poncle" Galante recently claimed that the next Vampire Survivors update may be the biggest free update ever released for the game. The roguelike shoot 'em up has been a hit with audiences since its initial release in 2022, and Vampire Survivors players will want to keep an eye out for new content coming to the game in 2025.

Released in early access for PC in 2021, the indie title Vampire Survivors has found incredible success in the years since, with the game now available on all major platforms and mobile devices. The game features an addictive and easy-to-understand gameplay loop, tasking players with staying alive as long as possible while defeating a never-ending flood of enemies and gradually upgrading their abilities and weapons. Vampire Survivors has received plenty of updates over the years, both big and small, but according to the title's developer, the next patch will introduce more free content in a single swoop than any previous update.

In a new Steam post, developer Poncle gave players an idea of what's coming to Vampire Survivors in 2025, including a hefty patch sometime in April. In October 2024, the Ode to Castlevania patch was released, which became the biggest expansion ever for the indie title. While work on this extremely well-received patch delayed some of 2025's planned content, Poncle promises that the next update will be well worth the wait. "The update will be free and available on all platforms next month," the developer wrote. "It's probably the biggest free update we've ever done, so please stay tuned for more info very soon!" Additionally, it was announced that cross-save functionality for Vampire Survivors would be added alongside the April patch for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox, and mobile devices. Unfortunately, Switch users will need to wait for a later hotfix.

Vampire Survivors Version 1.3 May Be the Largest Free Update to Date

Last year's Ode to Castlevania DLC for Vampire Survivors inspired plenty of new players to pick up the hectic indie title, packed with familiar characters and music tracks from Konami's legendary franchise. The update also introduced an additional 10 hours of gameplay, a new map, and 40 new weapons, with Neil Newbon (Astarion in Baldur's Gate 3) appearing to voice Dracula. It's unclear whether Vampire Survivors will introduce any other crossovers in the future, though fans are eager for the possibility.

In January 2025, it was announced a live-action Vampire Survivors film was in the works, despite the title having no real story. The project is in the works with Story Kitchen, a company known for its video game adaptations for television and film, such as the Sonic the Hedgehog movies and the upcoming It Takes Two film.
