In Vampire Survivors, one of the more difficult characters to unlock in the Tides of Foscari DLC is Genevieve. She is the hardest character to unlock, but also arguably the best character in Tides of Foscari. Genevieve's starting weapon is perhaps the worst starting weapon in Vampire Survivors. However, this lowly weapon becomes one of the best when evolved.
The first step to unlocking this character is to purchase the Tides of Foscari DLC for Vampire Survivors. Without this, she is unobtainable. Below is a step-by-step guide to unlocking Genevieve; this is followed by a brief overview of the character, and a powerful build to use with her.
Unlocking Genevieve
The actual act that unlocks Genevieve is destroying the green Seal of the Banished in Abyss Foscari with Eleanor. Before players can get to this point, they need to unlock the Abyss Foscari stage. This is done by using one of the other new characters, Keitha, to destroy the Seal of the Lake. Doing this requires that her starting weapon, Flash Arrow, be evolved into Millionaire. Keitha is unlocked by evolving Eskizzibur, Maruto's starting weapon. Unlocking Maruto requires evolving Eleanor's starting weapon(s).
Once the Abyss Foscari stage is unlocked, start it with Maruto and evolve his starting weapon as soon as possible. That weapon (and Maruto) are needed to destroy the red Seal of Abyss. After the Seal of the Abyss is shattered, start the stage again, this time with Eleanor. Fully evolve Eleanor's starting weapon(s) into Spellstrom and look for the Seal of the Banished, which is a blue crystal this time. Destroying this crystal makes Genevieve available for purchase in the character selection screen. Her initial price is 5,000 gold, but this scales upward with other purchased characters.
Genevieve Overview
Bonuses & Abilities
Genevieve starts with the following passive bonuses:
- MoveSpeed +20%
- Greed +50%
- Magnet +50%
- +5 Rerolls
She starts with two other bonuses that elevate her a tier or two. One of thees is her ability called World Eater. This ability is only used once per life, and kills every enemy onscreen. World Eater also turns enemies it defeats into healing heart s for Genevieve. Each Revive resets the use of the World Eater ability. With this ability, the the Tiragisu passive item and the Awake arcana are both great picks with Genevieve.
Her other ability is that upon leveling up, she activates the Vacuum ability. This ability works acts exactly like the Vacuum pick-up item. Her boosts to Greed and Magnet make the Stone Mask and Attractorb passive items even better.
Genevieve's starting weapon is Shadow Servant. This weapon summons small, worm-like shadows that wriggle around the screen, damaging enemies that make contact. At low level, this weapon is next to unless, but the evolved form (Ophion) is one of the best weapons in Vampire Survivors. A fully leveled Skull O'Maniac passive item is needed to evolve Shadow Servant. This makes the Song of Mana a great weapon for Genevieve, as it also requires the Skull O'Maniac to evolve.
