After facing player backlash, Paradox Interactive has confirmed that the Lasombra and Toreador clans will be included in the base version of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2. Previously, it was announced that these popular clans would be locked behind a rather pricey DLC pack for the highly anticipated action RPG Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2, but thankfully, this is no longer the case.
Fans have been waiting over two decades for the release of Bloodlines 2. The title has faced a number of high-profile setbacks, including a change in developer and several delays, bumping it from its planned release in 2020 to its current launch date of October 21, 2025. In August, it was announced that two of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2's six clans would be locked behind a $22 DLC pack, instantly frustrating potential players and prompting online backlash. The two clans to be excluded from the base game, the Lasombra and Toreador, are among the franchise's most popular, which only made matters worse. Now, it seems that fan outrage was enough to prompt a big change.

The Lasombra and Toreador Clans Will No Longer Be Locked Behind Paid DLC in Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2
In a new post on the game's official website, Paradox Interactive has confirmed that Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 will now include both the Lasombra and Toreador clans in the base game at launch. The title's executive producer, Marco Behrmann, gave his thanks to the community, noting that player feedback prompted the change and "Lasombra and Toreador belong in the base game." Along with this positive news, a new overview trailer was revealed, and the post detailed two upcoming story packs for Bloodlines 2: "Loose Cannon," which will tell Brujah Sheriff Benny's tale, and "The Flower & The Flame," which will follow Toreador Primogen Ysabella’s path. These will be included in the Premium Edition Expansion Pass and are slated to release sometime in 2026. Earlier in September, Paradox began offering refunds for the Premium Edition of Bloodlines 2 on PS5 due to ongoing player frustration regarding the popular clans being locked behind DLC.
After countless rumors and ample speculation, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 finally got a release date in August, with fans just over one month away from finally getting their hands on the long-awaited sequel to 2004's RPG. Early impressions have been largely positive, with players applauding the title's characters, clans, and overall narrative.
Despite having taken over development of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 from Hardsuit Labs in 2023, The Chinese Room has several other projects in the works at the moment. While little is known about these projects, the developers have stated their intention to focus entirely on original IPs moving forward.
