Thors Snorresson is arguably one of the strongest characters in the anime Vinland Saga. Formerly a renowned Jomsviking warrior and captain, Thors' skills on the battlefield earned him the nickname Troll of Jom. After years of fighting under the command of the Jomsviking chief, Sigvaldi, Thors decided to give up his life as a warrior and moved to Iceland to grow his family in peace away from the war.
He met an untimely death early on in the series at the hands of fellow Viking Askeladd. His death fueled the determined, overpowering rage of his young son Thorfinn, who would devote his youth, and most of the series' plot, to trying to kill the man who murdered his father. A Vinland Saga spin-off featuring Thors would give fans a chance to discover his past as the revered Troll of Jom, and his transition from warrior to a farmer.
5 Askeladd
Askeladd is one of the most prominently featured characters in the first season of the series. He is a complex, sly character who acts as a mentor to young Thorfinn and is one of the series' most dominant antagonists. Askeladd is the leader of a group of Viking mercenaries who embark on raids across England and carry out assassinations. One such assassination was that of the warrior Thors, who was the father of the protagonist Thorfinn.
A spinoff series about Askeladd could explore his early life and show how he became the feared and respected leader that he is in Vinland Saga. Fans of the show would love to learn more about his past, his motivations, and his rise to power.
4 Thorkell
Thorkell is a gigantic character who is renowned for his great strength and love of combat. He is a fearsome warrior who is revered by both his allies and opponents. Thorkell fought alongside Thorfinn's father Thors and is the young protagonist's great uncle. Thorkell is known for his love of combat. He is also known for his sheer strength and skill on the battlefield and only a few characters in the series have survived a fight against him.
The towering warrior, also known as Thorkell the Tall served under the command of the Danes before joining the English during the rise of Prince Canute. Thorkell's story would make for an exciting spinoff series because fans would love to learn more about his early life and how he became such a formidable and skilled warrior.
3 Canute
Canute is the son of Sweyn Forkbeard, the King of Denmark, making him the Prince of Denmark. For most of season one of Vinland Saga, Canute was portrayed as a timid, delicate young man who suffered the bullying and mockery of the Vikings while he is forced to travel with them across England. Canute undergoes a major transformation throughout the course of the show. As he grows, he learns to find his inner strength and voice his opinions to others. This growth eventually helps him challenge his cruel father and become a confident, capable leader.

Leif is a friend of both the former Viking warrior Thors and his son Thorfinn. After the death of Thors, Leif embarked on a decades-long mission to find Thorfinn and return him home to his family.

1 Hild
Hild is a young female hunter who originated from a small village in Norway but was forced to leave her home after it was raided by Askeladd and his men. Even though Hild is a fairly new, supporting character in Vinland Saga, she has the potential to be an engaging lead in a standalone series. She is a capable and fiercely independent warrior with skill.
Hild's story could delve into her motivations and objectives and more closely follow the struggles she experiences after her entire family is wiped out. It could also show her growth as a warrior and the difficulties she encounters as a woman in the male-dominated Viking culture.
