Summary

  • Popular faces join the cast of The Boys spinoff Vought Rising.
  • The prequel series Vought Rising features Stormfront and Soldier Boy in a murder mystery plot.
  • New cast additions and upcoming appearances by Mason Dye keep fans excited for the prequel.

The Boys spinoff Vought Rising was announced with two fan-favorite leads already attached, and now the upcoming prequel is adding two more popular faces to the cast list in a move that’s sure to be repeated leading up to production.

The Boys was such a massive success from the onset that it was almost always guaranteed to give into the habits of the very industry that it had gone to such great lengths to parody and critique. As such, fans were far more delighted than surprised when Gen V was announced to adapt the Godolkin Institute for a live-action audience with cameos from the main show. The show was a success and would be intertwined with the mainline show in The Boys season four. With the franchise already nailing the integrated spinoff formula with Gen V, the show’s next related project was revealed to instead be a prequel series with fan favorites Stormfront and Soldier Boy set to return for a murder mystery during the formative stages of Vought, fittingly called Vought Rising.

While Homelander is a play on icons from the big comic franchises, the man behind the cruel 'hero' won't be looking to apply the experience elsewhere.

Leading lady Aya Cash made some big promises about the upcoming prequel series, and the production is taking some big steps toward fulfilling those lofty fan expectations with an expanding list of notable talent signing on. As highlighted by Nerdist, the project has most recently added two new stars in Euphoria’s Elizabeth Posey and Will Hochman of Bluebloods fame. Both stars have been added to the cast in currently undisclosed roles, but fans are sure to start spectating based on the oft-sidelined source material soon enough. Additionally, it’s also been recently rumored that the new franchise star Mason Dye, who is set to join The Boys season five as long-lived supe Bombsight, will also be appearing in the prequel series.

Posey and Hochman joining the cast is great news for fans and a positive sign that the prequel series is both on schedule and heading on the right track. In addition to all the other interesting propositions the new show brings, Vought Rising can show how supes shaped history in real time thanks to its status as a prequel series set so far back. While Soldier Boy is reason enough to tune in as is, and spent much of the time between shows on ice in-universe, fans will likely get to see a much different Stormfront from a time before the pop culture, mass, and social media that shaped the character in the modern day time period existed. As for the two latest additions, their current blank slate designations could be the show’s biggest strength in setting itself apart from the main series in the same way Gen V did with its young cast of talent.

All in all, there’s a lot to look forward to on the other end of The Boys final season. Vought Rising already has one must-see episode that’s sure to blow up social media and guarantee that everyone knows that the show has arrived. With such good odds, all that’s left is to complete the cast and live up to the endless potential that the time period gives the show. With a reinvention of the sparse comic origins pretty much guaranteed to be exciting for everyone who enjoys the original show, Posey and Hochman might’ve just signed on to their next big career highlights.

The Boys is available to stream on Amazon’s Prime Video, with Vought Rising currently in development.
