Warcraft: Strongest Orcs In The Lore
The Warcraft franchise features a variety of powerful orcs. These are some of the most impressive.
Warcraft lore, be it detailed in the books, World of Warcraft, or other games, includes many powerful characters. These characters span far and wide with their alignment, relevance, race, class, and many more traits. However, fans of Warcraft lore cannot deny that there are plenty of powerful humans in the franchise.
1 Anduin Wrynn
King Of Stormwind
- Prominently featured in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands
King Anduin Wrynn is the son of the former king, Varian Wrynn. He is a diplomatic and kind leader, empowered by the light as both a conduit for and wielder of its power. Anduin has many political ties given his position as king, and has been a consistent protagonist in the recent World of Warcraft expansions.
While Anduin is not necessarily the strongest character in regards to raw power, he does still wield the light, regaining its power for the first time in The War Within since abandoning it after Shadowlands. The growth seen after the tribulations Anduin faced in Shadowlands, coupled with his diplomatic prowess and political influence, are what make him one of the more powerful humans in Warcraft lore.
2 Turalyon
High Exarch
- Prominently featured in World of Warcraft: Legion
High Exarch Turalyon was one of the first five paladins of the Knights of the Silver Hand, alongside another notable human, Uther the Lightbringer. The former priest, despite lacking a martial background before becoming a paladin, quickly rose to second in command of the Alliance armies, before being appointed Lord Commander.
Aside from his military position, Turalyon was also a strong fighter and wielder of the light. Before being lost within a rift after the destruction of the Dark Portal, Turalyon defeated Ogrim Doomhammer during a skirmish in the Second War and empowered those around him with his aura. After disappearing, Turalyon would join the Lightforged in their fight against the Burning Legion, proving a noble paladin and defender of creation. His prowess had him granted immortality by the Prime Naaru Xe'ra. This immortality bolstered his already impressive combat ability and made him one of the stronger humans in Warcraft lore.
3 Khadgar
Leader Of The Kirin Tor
- Prominently featured in World of Warcraft: Legion
Khadgar was the apprentice of The Last Guardian Medivh and the leader of the Kirin Tor mages. He wields the artifact staff, Atiesh, and harbors powerful magical abilities as well as wit and influence among the ranks of the Alliance.
Khadgar has featured prominently throughout World of Warcraft expansions and expanded media. Not only does he wield the incredibly powerful Atiesh, a staff once wielded by prior Guardians and likely one of the most powerful magical weapons in Warcraft lore, but Khadgar has also proven his strength through many feats. Most notably, Khadgar was able to destroy the Dark Portal, severing the connection between Azeroth and Draenor, an act that took a lot of power to accomplish.
4 Jaina Proudmoore
The Most Powerful Mage
- Prominently featured in World of Warcraft: Battle For Azeroth
Jaina Proudmoore is a consistent and prominent character within World of Warcraft. She is likely the most powerful living mage and was already powerful given her training by Archmage Antonidas.
World Of Warcraft: War Within - 6 Secrets And Easter Eggs
In World of Warcraft: War Within, players can look forward to uncovering several clever easter eggs and secrets.
Jaina's power would only grow throughout the narrative, noticeably being boosted when the mana-bombing of Theramore awoke latent arcane magic within her. This likely made her more powerful than Khadgar, at least in regards to raw magical power. Jaina, enraged and empowered, would gain the ability to call forth storms and utilize both frost and arcane magic incredibly proficiently. She was even a raid boss in the Alliance wing of the Battle of Dazar'alor in Battle for Azeroth.
5 Arthas
The Lich King
- Prominently featured in World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King & World of Warcraft: Arthas: Rise of the Lich King
Arthas Menethil was the Crown Prince of Lordaeron and heir to the throne. In an attempt to stop a plague spread by Kel'Thuzad, he culled the town of Stratholme, an event which ultimately led to him being corrupted and becoming the Lich King.
Arthas was already a Knight of the Silver Hand, and as a result, had solid combat proficiency. Of course, after becoming the Lich King, Arthas commanded unprecedented power. He wielded the powerful sword Frostmourne and was able to command armies of the scourge. He could also raise the dead as subservient Death Knights. Arthas had dominion over death and was very corrupting, his armies constantly being bolstered by his powers as the Lich King. This easily made him one of the most powerful humans in Warcraft lore.
6 Aegwynn
Matriarch Of Tristfal
- Prominently featured in Warcraft: The Last Guardian
Aegwynn was the penultimate Guardian of Tristfal and the mother of the great sorcerer Medivh. She was incredibly powerful, with a powerful magical ability of her own that was only built upon given the cumulative effects of the Guardian position.
In Warcraft lore, each Guardian passes their power onto the next, meaning each is as strong as the last. This made Aegwynn incredibly powerful, so powerful in fact that she accomplished feats unheard of for mortals. Most notably, she single-handedly defeated an avatar of the most powerful Titan, Sargearas, a feat that players in World of Warcraft would only barely accomplish when receiving aid from a whole raid party.
7 Medivh
The Last Guardian
- Prominently featured in Warcraft: The Last Guardian & Warcraft: Orcs and Humans
Medivh was the final Guardian, possessed by the spirit of Sargeras, unbeknownst to him for a lot of his life. He was the son of Aegwynn and considered the most powerful mage in Azeroth, harboring immense raw power as well as intelligence and foresight.
Warcraft: Strongest Magic Types, Ranked
There are various powerful forms of magic in the Warcraft universe. These examples are some of the most powerful.
Medivh is likely stronger than his mother, given the cumulative power of the Guardian position, along with the essence of Sargeras that lives within him. He notably opened the Dark Portal, using immense magical power to do so. He was regularly depicted as being wise and influential, manipulating events leading into the Third War. His ability to manipulate and scheme, along with his Guardian powers and the titan spirit that resided within him, makes Medivh the strongest human in Warcraft lore.
