Rivens are highly unique and sought-after tradeable mods in Warframe. They roll with randomized stats, meaning no two Rivens are ever exactly alike, even if they are for the same weapon and have similar attributes. It's easy to see why trading top-tier Rivens is one of the most profitable ways to earn Platinum in Warframe. However, with so many factors affecting value, pricing them fairly can be confusing for new players.

You can earn one Riven Cypher per week from Steel Path Honors, which can be used to unveil a Riven Mod without completing its challenge.

Something else to consider when calculating the price of a Riven Mod in Warframe is that negative attributes are not always bad. Rivens can roll up to four lines of attributes, and any negative stats actually help to make the positive ones much stronger. This trade-off can make certain Rivens more valuable than they first appear.

The Best Way to Price Rivens in Warframe

Unveiled Rivens can vary drastically in price, ranging anywhere from 10 to 8,000 Platinum. This wide gap in market value can’t be pinned down by a single rule. Several factors come into play when calculating a Riven’s true worth. This step-by-step guide may take a little time to get used to, especially for new players, but it’s the most effective way to calculate and price Rivens in Warframe.

Step 1: Identify the Weapon

The most important thing that affects the price of a Riven is the weapon it is meant for. Every Riven has an unrolled price and a rolled price. The former refers to the minimum price all Rivens for one specific weapon are being sold on the market, irrespective of the attributes.

For example, currently, an unrolled Riven for Burston can easily be sold for 200 Platinum. On the other hand, if the unveiled Riven is for a weapon with no or low demand, it might be sold for 10-20 Platinum even if it has great attributes and stats.

Step 2: Consider the Riven Disposition

The attributes of a Riven mod are highly affected by the Riven disposition of a weapon. This is a stat multiplier that changes based on the popularity of a weapon, its strength, and usage percentage among high MR players. It determines the potential range of Riven attributes each weapon can have and is regularly updated with each Prime Access.

In Warframe, weapon disposition is shown in the weapon’s stat window as five dots. Five filled dots represent a high disposition, meaning Rivens for that weapon can roll with the strongest possible attributes. However, a single filled dot indicates a low disposition, resulting in Rivens with much more limited attribute values.

Step 3: Analyze the Riven’s Stats

After identifying the Riven’s weapon and its popularity, the next thing to pay attention to is the stats and attributes. You must check the desirable stats and negative stats of the Riven.

For ranged weapons, the most desirable stats are Critical Chance, Critical Damage, Multishot, and Toxin, while the best melee weapons should have Range, Critical Damage, Critical Chance, and Attack Speed.

If the Riven has a harmless negative stat, it will serve to boost the positive stats and hence have a better price. If players have enough Kuva and are willing to bet on their RNG, they may recycle or reroll the Riven for more desirable attributes.

For example, a Burston Riven mod with Critical Damage and Critical Chance can be sold for more than 300 Platinum, but if it has a negative recoil or zoom, it can be sold for 400 Platinum.

Step 4: Consider the Riven Polarity and Mastery Rank

Additionally, make sure to check the Mastery requirement and the mod’s polarity. A high Mastery restriction limits the pool of potential buyers, which can lower demand. While polarity doesn’t typically impact the price directly, it can influence how quickly the Riven sells in Warframe, since common polarities are easier to fit into builds.

Step 5: Compare Market Listings

The final step involves looking up listings of other players selling similar Rivens. The best place for this is the Warframe Market, a third-party platform with no association with Digital Extremes. Nevertheless, it is a platform trusted by millions of Warframe players and offers a significantly more convenient trading experience compared to the in-game trade chat.

You can select the weapon and choose up to three positive attributes, and one negative attribute to match their Riven, and compare the listings of other similar Rivens. This will give you a base estimate of how much to sell their Riven for.

Certain formulas claim to be able to calculate the exact price of a Riven. However, most of the results are often unreliable and highly exaggerated.

How to Re-Roll Rivens for the Best Stats

Warframe - Rerolling Rivens
Rerolling Rivens requires a lot of Kuva in Warframe.

Re-rolling Rivens requires a lot of Kuva, a special (rare) resource in Warframe that can only be obtained from Kuva Siphon missions or weekly shops. Each re-roll costs more Kuva than the last, capping at 3,500 Kuva per roll.

After each re-roll, you will be given a choice: keep the new stats or stick with the old ones. It is highly recommended to consider all the stats very carefully when selecting the re-rolled version. Take your time. Rivens can have a wide range of stat combinations, and the right decision can significantly affect the mod’s value.

While negative attributes often increase the potency of positive stats, making them more valuable in trade, an attribute like negative Damage can make a Riven useless. Similarly, negative Critical Chance or Critical Damage on a crit weapon or negative Status Chance or Duration on a status weapon can also ruin a Riven’s value.

What Counts as a god-Roll Riven?

A god-Roll or g-Roll Riven is a Riven with an extremely rare combination of attributes that perfectly complement a weapon’s strengths. There is no hard-set rule for what attributes comprise a god-roll Riven. Rather, it varies from weapon to weapon and depends on the consensus among the players.

A god-Roll Riven can sell for anything between 3000 and 10000 Platinum. However, it is extremely rare, and many players would just be spending hundreds of thousands of Kuva, gambling for the perfect roll, only to end up disappointed. Hence, don't fall into that trap and bankrupt yourself.
