A new title revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase by inXile Entertainment, Clockwork Revolution, is similar to the BioShock franchise. For those unaware, inXile Entertainment is a development studio that specializes in Western RPGs, such as the Wasteland series, The Bard's Tale, and Torment: Tides of Numenera. The developer became a part of Xbox Game Studios in 2018. After the completion of 2020's Wasteland 3, there have been rumors about the studio's next project.

The rumors at the time stated that inXile Entertainment was working on a first-person Steampunk FPS RPG game, with its being called "Project Cobalt" internally. When it was announced that the developer would be a part of the Xbox Games Showcase for Summer Game Fest weekend, some wondered if this mysterious project was going to be announced as well. It seems like those rumors were validated, as Clockwork Revolution is exactly that, with a hint of BioShock Infinite added in.

Clockwork Revolution's trailer starts out with an old-timey radio being played over a Steampunk city. It then cuts to a woman known as "Lady Ironwood" on a signboard, who seems to be the game's central figure. A voiceover, which the captions identify as Lady Ironwood herself, explain how its world works, where humans and robots live in harmony. She however notes that if a "gear" is out of place, then it can irrevocably change and ruin everything, with the trailer reversing until it shows how Lady Ironwood is some sort of pariah.

It then cuts to haunting horns, where a woman named Morgan takes up a variety of guns, rebelling against the order that Lady Ironwood has built. This includes shooting a variety of enemies, human, or mechanical, with its BioShock influences more evident as the trailer continues. The trailer shows a giant energy gun, the ability to reverse the flow of time to get past an obstacle, and more. The flow of time and the consequences of the past influencing the future seems to be also at play here, in the same vein as BioShock Infinite.

Some of the consequences are shown in this trailer. After Morgan has changed the past, the future has gone from a prosperous Steampunk world to one that is ruled by an iron fist, with robots and drones seemingly now policing the city. Morgan can only ask what she did to cause this to happen, before being pursued by another giant robot.

Clockwork Revolution is currently in development and will launch for PC and Xbox Series X.
