Wednesday is an entertaining murder mystery show highlighting the breakout star of The Addams Family, but from time to time, viewers get to spend some time with other members of the Addams clan as well. Luis Guzmán and Catherine Zeta-Jones are wonderful as the doting Gomez and Morticia Addams. Isaac Ordonez plays Pugsley in a more restrained way than his past counterparts, but not without the character's usual love of explosives. It would be terrific to see Pugsley highlighted more next season.
Another fan favorite is Fred Armisen's surprise turn as the electric Uncle Fester near the end of last season. Victor Dorobantu should also be praised for giving Thing so much personality. To add to the excitement, even Grandmama, played by Joanna Lumley, will be making an appearance next season. While seeing these characters has been so much fun, the younger versions of Gomez and Morticia drew them in that much more.
Wednesday Season 2 Should Revisit Young Gomez and Morticia
Young Gomez and Morticia had an important role to play in Wednesday's first season, but not nearly enough screen time as they deserved.
The teenage versions of Gomez and Morticia, played by Lucius Hoyos and Gwen Jones respectively, were exciting to watch during Season 1, Episode 5, "You Reap What You Woe." Fans loved seeing these younger versions of these beloved characters and would be eager to see more of them. For instance, it would be illuminating to see what kind of powers Gomez possesses. That said, a flashback episode could do more than just bring back young Gomez and Morticia. A flashback episode could provide a number of other interesting cameos and narrative possibilities as well.

There’s an Opportunity to See Younger Versions of The Addams Family
When Uncle Fester makes his appearance in Season 1, Episode 7, he mentions that he used to visit Gomez at Nevermore when he used to attend. Not only did Uncle Fester regularly surprise Gomez, but he also had the specific experience of being exiled from Gomez's dorm room so he and Morticia could be alone. While exiled, he revealed that he had enough time to sift through the library, which is how he discovered Nathaniel Faulkner's diary in a safe. Uncle Fester is naturally a troublemaker, so there's no doubt he would have gotten up to other adventures while visiting his brother. Additionally, this provides the opportunity for audience members to see other younger members of the Addams clan, such as Cousin Itt or perhaps even Lurch. These episodes could even employ some of the quirky Addams Family-style humor.
Whatever Was Going On With Principal Weems and Morticia Was Never Fully Addressed
Principal Larissa Weems was a fantastic addition to the cast, with her love for Nevermore serving as an explanation for her morally gray actions. It would be fantastic to see the statuesque principal return in Season 2. While some have speculated that she might return as a ghost, there is another possibility as well. During the flashbacks from Season 1 showing the conflict between Gomez and Garrett Gates, viewers were also introduced to a younger version of Larissa, played by Oliver Wickham. If young Gomez and Morticia return, then a younger Larissa should as well, especially since the seemingly one-sided rivalry between Morticia and Larissa never got resolved. Larissa even went so far as to tear Morticia's photo out of her yearbook. As her roommate, Larissa regularly felt overshadowed by Morticia's status as one of the most accomplished students at Nevermore. (Something Wednesday herself felt when she first started at the school.) Additionally, Larissa mentions that the boy she wanted to go with to the Rave'N asked out Morticia. This could have been Gomez, Garrett Gates, or another boy that could be introduced in Season 2. Seeing Larissa and Morticia as frenemies back in school could not only be entertaining, but might provide some insight into Larissa's feelings.
There’s Potential to Get Hints as to How Wednesday Could Solve the Season 2 Conflict
A flashback episode could also provide an opportunity to show that whatever conflict Wednesday is facing in Season 2 has its origins from when Wednesday's parents were attending Nevermore. That, or the conflict could be something that various generations of Nevermore students have had to face, including Morticia and Gomez. That could also be a way to potentially get the Addams family members more involved, especially since they are uniquely qualified to handle monsters. The flashback could also be used to plant the puzzle pieces that Wednesday needs in order to solve the case. Perhaps in one of Nevermore's under utilized classrooms? That could create tension and the audience would know if a character has an important piece of information or the location of a clue before Wednesday herself does.
A flashback episode could be a great way to expand the world of Wednesday. It could provide insight into Nevermore's history as well as character details the viewers might not have known otherwise. Aside from fan service, it also provides opportunities to bring back a deceased character like Principal Weems and could be a way to cleverly plant details of how Wednesday could solve next season's case. Whatever the case may be, young Gomez and Morticia stole the show and viewers are eager to see them steal it again.
