Netflix decided on a similar release strategy for both Wednesday season 2 and Stranger Things season 5. While the latter will be released in three parts in November and December 2025, the second season of Jenna Ortega's beloved character's dark tale will be split into two parts.
On the one hand, fans would love to be able to binge-watch all eight episodes at once, especially since it's going to be tough to wait to learn how Wednesday battles the Kansas City Scalper and wins. Although there's no doubt that he'll make it challenging, it's hard to imagine the Goth teenager being unsuccessful in her quest. However, it'll still be a lot of fun to binge episodes one through four, and after a few hours, fans will have answers to some of the big questions they've been thinking about since the season 1 finale in November 2022.
In a joint interview with Tim Burton, who directs and produces Wednesday, for The Hollywood Reporter, Jenna Ortega shared a bit about how season 2 is different from the first batch of eight episodes. The actress said:
"Netflix has a lot more trust this time around. So we were able to do things on a grander scale and were able to spend more time on sequences. There are also a lot of new castmembers like Steve Buscemi and Billie Piper, and doing a scene with them pushes you further because they’re so gifted. We also play on the excitement that Wednesday got from having saved the school in the first season."
Ortega joked that Wednesday is in "pure agony" now that her classmates and teachers at Nevermore Academy talk to her a lot. This is hinted at in the second season trailer, and fans see one of Wednesday's peers asking her for an autograph, which is not her favorite thing in the world. The trailer also hints at Wednesday having a memorable and haunting vision of Enid Sinclair's (Emma Myers) death, which makes her determined to save her roommate and friend. Between figuring out how to stop a serial killer and ensuring that Enid survives, Wednesday has a lot going on, and it's going to be tough to wait for the second group of episodes.
How Many Episodes Are In Wednesday Season 2?
Wednesday season 2 will have eight episodes, just like the first season. The episode titles follow season 1's tradition of playing with the word "woe," which fits with the darkly funny tone of the show. The season 2 premiere is called "Here We Woe Again." Episode 2 is called "The Devil," episode 3 is "Call of the Woe," and episode 4 is "If These Woes Could Talk." The other episodes are called "Hide and Woe Seek," "This Means Woe," and "Woe Thyself." While the second season will include some elements that fans know and love, from Wednesday's quirky and strange family members to the same setting of Nevermore Academy, there are plenty of new characters to become invested in.
Wednesday season 2, part two will be released on September 3rd, 2025. Along with watching the new episodes, fans can also get ready to hear guest star Lady Gaga's new song, "Dead Dance," which will also be included in the second season of this beloved show.
