Combining features of RPG, top-down shooter, and stealth games, Weird West is a highly memorable game that boasts a unique atmosphere and gameplay. And, like many RPGs, the game contains a boatload of fantastic side quests that, due to being separate from the main quest line, can actually be missed altogether.

Located across farmsteads, abandoned towns, and the X, Weird West faithfully utilizes its Western setting to bring its side quests to life. But, with so many to choose from, where should you begin? In this list, we go over 10 of our favorites, from fetching old coats to becoming the pig-man savior of a group of threatened townsfolk (yes, heard us right).

10 Holy Pig

Weird West Ci'erns Qui'g In Forest

Perhaps unsurprisingly, this side quest is only available to Ci'erns Qui'g, a pigman and one of Weird West's five playable characters. Like many other Western games, combat is a crucial element of Weird West, and it's also the focus of this side quest. While on the Pigman Journey, C'ierns can talk to a cleric, who then tasks C'ierns with rescuing a group of townspeople being attacked by Oneirists.

Completing the side quest allows C'ierns to walk around Cedar Flats freely. Save enough townspeople, and they'll even start referring to Ci'erns as 'holy pig.'

9 The Dying Stillwater

Weird West Jane Bell in a Gunfight-1

Accessible shortly after the start of the game, The Dying Stillwater is a side quest that beginners should check out for the sake of exposition, as well as to get ahold of some great loot. Playing as Jane, players will visit the location Greenwood Run in the hunt for information about Jane's late husband. A trapdoor in the house leads to a cave, where the player finds Dean Stillwater bleeding out.

In exchange for bandages, Stillwater gives the player character information about a secret stash of treasure that can be unearthed.

8 Treasure Hunt

Monsters and Magic in Weird West-1

One of our favorite randomly-generated side quests in Weird West, Treasure Hunt sees the player character using a treasure map to dig up loot. Many players neglect to use Weird West's stealth feature as widely as they should, and it really comes in handy during the Treasure Hunt side quest.

Using stealth, players can sneak around the pigmen, outlaws, and other nasties that guard hidden bounties to be found on treasure hunt side quests. In the loot bounties, players can find anything from gold and silver nuggets to legendary weapons and special amulets.

7 Lone Wolf

Weird West Across Rivers and C'ierns Qui'g in Forest

The Lone Wolf side quest is one of the darker ones in the game, but completing it will net players a +5 boost to their reputation, as well as unlocking a new Friend for Life. Players can unlock the side quest by traveling to the intersection in Grackle as Dezi. Ultimately, the side quest involves traveling to a werewolf hunter's homestead and deciding whether to kill his captive werewolf prisoner or free him.

Free the prisoner, and he will become a Friend for Life. Keep in mind that doing so also means the werewolf hunter needs to be taken care of.

6 Crime And Punishment

Weird West Jane Bell and NPCs by Sigil-1

One of Weird West's spookier side quests, Crime and Punishment, requires players to free a spirit trapped inside a statuette. Unlike many of the game's side quests, players can complete Crime and Punishment as any of its playable characters.

The side quest begins when players find the Cursed Statuette, the location of which is randomized somewhere in the game’s open world. As a result, finding it can take a while. Eventually, players will need to decide whether to free the spirit inside the statuette or destroy it altogether.

5 Missing Memories

Battle on the Streets of Weird West-1

Love them or hate them, fetch quests are a common feature in many games. Missing Memories is somewhat unique in the story it tells, though; the player is tasked with retrieving an old diary for a reward. It's Sarah Cheng who asks the player to retrieve her diary, and she can be found on the second floor of the saloon in Grackle.

Return her diary to her for a +10 reputation boost and $100. The diary is in a house to the right of the gun store in Buford Stead and players may want to use stealth to avoid enemies here.

4 Lost Threads

Weird West Jane Bell and Horse by River-1

The whimsical Lost Threads side quest is randomly generated, so there's no single way to unlock it. On one of Weird West's many homesteads, one of the NPCs present will assign the Protagonist with the task of retrieving their coat from a nearby abandoned town.

It's important to note here that, oftentimes, the quest marker for where the coat is won't actually appear until the player is close by. Players should check every house in the town thoroughly so as not to miss the coat accidentally. Then, return the dashing coat to its NPC owner.

3 Ghost Torment

Across Rivers in the World of Weird West-1

Scared of ghosts? One of the rarer side quests in Weird West, it's easy to miss Ghost Torment altogether. To unlock the side quest, players need to complete the Thunderbird Ritual when playing as Across Rivers during his Protector Journey quest line.

After doing so, there is a chance of any future characters the player character kills turning into a ghost. This kicks off the side quest, where the ghost of the recently-deceased character asks the player to dig up a belonging of theirs and deliver it to their family.

2 The Strangeness

Weird West gameplay

While this quest is randomly generated, it does have something of a unique beginning. The player character is approached by two children, who request that the player investigate some strange goings-on in a nearby town.

Because this quest is randomly generated, the ‘strangeness’ the children refer to will actually be different for each playthrough, giving this quest excellent replay value. However, each time, the story of this side quest is essentially a murder mystery, making solving it both thrilling and dark. It might not be wise to play it with the lights off, though…

1 What The Doctor Ordered

Weird West Jane Bell and Pigman-1

While Weird West isn’t a dedicated stealth game, the title does take plenty of cues from the genre, especially with the inclusion of its stealth feature. Stealth often comes in handy in Weird West’s many side quests, and What the Doctor Ordered is no exception.

Players can start the side quest from any of the game’s doctor’s offices. In short, What the Doctor Ordered involves delivering goods to extra dangerous locations, which is why stealth often comes in handy. Additionally, the quest is repeatable, so it’s sure to appeal to all the masochists out there, too.

Weird West is out now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
