There are lots of mechanics in Death Stranding 2: On The Beach that add to the depth and some aspects of realism to this otherwise very unrealistic world. As Sam goes out into the world and tries to expand the Chiral Network, he'll get battered by the elements and ultimately get very dirty.
Luckily, Death Stranding 2 brings back the shower mechanic from the first game, letting Sam get cleaned up as long as the conditions are right. Here's what showering does in Death Stranding 2 and why you should do it as often as possible, along with how to enter Private Rooms to get to the shower when needed.
Death Stranding 2: What Do Likes Do?
Give and get a bundle of likes in Death Stranding 2 to keep on keeping on, but what does this cheery thumbs up do for players?
What Does Showering do in Death Stranding 2: On The Beach?
Showering is done anytime in a Private Room or the DHV Magellan. While it may seem easy to think this mechanic is entirely fan-service, players should shower every time they enter a private room, as it is a great source of Chiral Crystals. Showering not only cleans Sam, but also takes the Chiral Crystals from the outside world and adds them to your inventory.
The longer you're out, the more Crystals you'll collect when showering, but this shouldn't stop you from showering every chance you can. Chiral Crystals have two very important uses:
- Increase Sam's Carry Capacity
- Used as a basic currency to fabricate a lot of different things.
While there are multiple ways to get Chiral Crystals in the game, showering is another easy way that can help you passively get more as you play. The showering scene can be skipped if you want to focus on just getting the Crystals, making this an otherwise simple way of getting Crystals as opposed to fighting BTs.
Death Stranding 2: How to Secure Your Cargo
Sam's main task in Death Stranding 2 is carrying cargo and ensuring it’s well-maintained. Here's how players can do that.
Where To Find Private Rooms & Showers in Death Stranding 2
Private Rooms can be found in any large facility, not just a Prepper's home. You can directly enter the private room by standing on the large circular elevator in the main room of a shelter, or enter it through the terminal. Once in your private room, look off to Sam's left and you'll get a prompt to shower by pressing circle.
You can shower anytime after going outside of a shelter and entering again, through the amount of Crystals you get for the shower depends on how long you were out. Showering also cleans Sam's appearance, and while the same can be done by washing his face in the sink, you should always shower instead to get the Crystals.
