In the co-op climbing game PEAK, survival is usually based on last-minute decisions and the right tools. When you're clinging to a ledge with nowhere to go, or facing an impossible-looking climb, having the right tool can make all the difference in PEAK. One such item that’s often overlooked but incredibly powerful in the right hands, is the Anti-Rope Spool. It’s not your typical climbing gear, and once you understand how to use it, it might just become one of your favorite items in PEAK.

If you've been wondering what to do with the oversized, fragile Big Eggs in PEAK, this guide can help.
What Does the Anti-Rope Spool in PEAK Do?
Unlike the regular Rope Spool, which deploys a rope downwards, the Anti-Rope Spool works in the opposite direction. When placed on a surface, the Anti-Rope Spool deploys a rope that floats upwards. This makes it an absolute must-have for reaching high ledges and platforms that would otherwise be impossible to climb.
The Anti-Rope Spool deploys 12.5 meters of rope upward (maximum of 10 meters per use). Once activated, it launches a rope vertically and secures it to a suitable anchor point above, creating a climbable path for players. You can find the Anti-Rope Spool by interacting with the Ancient Statues at the summit of each biome in PEAK or inside Ancient Luggage.
You can also find items like Rope Spools, Rope Cannons, and Pitons, all of which are useful in their own ways.
When To Use The Anti-Rope Spool in PEAK?
The Anti-Rope Spool comes in handy in situations where vertical movement is necessary but hard to do using regular climbing. Here are the most convenient times to use it:
- Reaching High Places: When a ledge or platform is just out of jumping or climbing range, using the Anti-Rope Spool lets you create an instant, climbable rope that floats upward and attaches to the surface. This way, you can easily get through tough or impossible sections of the mountain.
- Saving Stamina: Free-climbing high walls drains your stamina quickly. With the Anti-Rope Spool, you can climb up on a rope, which does not use nearly as much energy. It's ideal for saving stamina for extended or dangerous climbs.
- Helping Teammates: A player below can use the floating rope to climb up to the player who placed it. This makes it an excellent tool for teamwork and getting everyone to the next stage of the climb.
The Anti-Rope Spool contains a finite amount of rope (12.5 meters), so it's important to use it wisely. It is a handy item that can make all the difference between a successful summit and a fatal fall.
