Genshin Impact is one of the fastest-growing gacha games to date, and it’s taking the gaming world by storm. From its lengthy storytelling, to the variety of monsters inhabiting the world, any player that is new to the game can easily find themselves lost.
It can initially be a struggle to figure out where you stand in the game and what to do when you log in, but once you get the hang of it, it’s as easy as breathing. Here are some things you can start off with in Genshin Impact so you don’t get too overwhelmed when playing.
Genshin Impact: The Best Way To Use Your Resin
Here are the many ways Genshin Impact players can spend their daily resin and how to best plan for long-term play.
6 Unlock Daily Commissions
Make Sure To Do Your Commissions Everyday
This is one of the most essential things in Genshin Impact and something that will help you steadily increase your Adventure Rank. Daily Commissions unlock at Adventure Rank 12. Once you unlock them, you simply need to follow the purple markers on the map. They’ll direct you to one of the four commissions for that day, and completing it will give you Adventure Rank EXP, which will in turn give you your daily source of primogems.
Moreover, doing your commissions can help you get a lay of the land and what to expect in puzzles and monsters. Every day, four commissions are assigned to you. Completing all four grants a bonus reward from the Adventurer's Guild!
5 Play Through The Archon Story
It’s Always Best To Complete The Story In Order
The Archon Quest series is the main story of Genshin Impact, and it usually unlocks depending on which Adventure Rank you have reached. It’s recommended to play through as much of the story as you can and keep raising your Adventure Rank to unlock more chapters.
Players should know that each Archon Quest is based on the region they are located in, so it’s imperative not to unlock Archon Quests in other regions until you have completed the prerequisite. This also pertains to any character's story quests, as many NPCs can easily get ‘locked’ behind them and hinder players from progressing through the story. If you’re looking for quests to do, make sure they are only quests from the region you are currently in. For example: if you are Mondstadt, make sure all the side quests and world quests are completed before heading to Liyue and unlocking the map.
Genshin Impact players should note that it is a good idea to complete the Mondstadt Archon Quest Act I & II first, as it primarily acts as a tutorial to the game. Additionally, if you do not complete it, you will be locked out of other areas and the game will automatically teleport you back to Mondstadt City if you step into other regions. Once you have completed the entire quest, it is recommended to head into Liyue, then Inazuma (as it requires quest assistance), Sumeru, Fontaine, and then Natlan.
4 Activate All The Teleport Waypoints
Make Traveling Across Teyvat Easier
When you first start out, it might be difficult to run across the map to unlock all the teleport waypoints, but it’s a good habit to maintain whenever unlocking new regions. The moment you unlock Mondstadt and have completed a substantial amount of the Archon Quest, head toward every single teleport waypoint and unlock it.
This is necessary, as the Archon Quest will take you across the region, and it’ll be very difficult to travel such large distances without the help of the teleport waypoint. Keep in mind that some sub-regions are usually locked behind a quest, and you’ll need to progress through the story for it to automatically unlock. These areas usually have more dangerous monsters, so you might need to wait.
3 Send Your Characters On Expeditions
Obtain As Many Materials As You Can
Expeditions are an important side quest that players will unlock before commissions. They’ll give you the opportunity to grab some additional materials without spending too much time stressing out over whether you have enough for any upgrades. The maximum amount of time you can send a character on an expedition is 20 hours. Sending them on a 20-hour expedition means you get more materials.
Here are some necessary materials you can choose to collect through expeditions:
- Ores and Crystals
- Sweet Flowers
- Fowl and Meat
- Mint
- Mora (in the early days)
Genshin Impact: Sweet Flower Locations
One of the Genshin Impact ingredients that players can cook with is a small, sweet-tasting flower that is both easy to find and hard to farm.
2 Farm Money And EXP Books
Collect For Character Building
One mistake that Genshin Impact players often make is underestimating how much money and adventure books they require for their characters. These can both be obtained by activating a Ley Line flower and defeating the enemies that spawn, then paying Original Resin to claim the rewards.
The Blossom of Revelation unlocks at Adventure Rank 8 and gives you Character EXP materials. The Blossom of Wealth unlocks at Adventure Rank 12 and gives you Mora (Teyvat’s currency).
These Ley Line Outcrops spawn in a new place each day and every time one is cleared. Each nation can have one of each present at any time. They're marked on the map with a symbol of a yellow cloud (Mora) and a blue cloud (EXP materials), seen in the image above next to their respective item symbols.
1 Open Your World For Co-Op
Allows Higher Level Players To Help You
There’s no harm in asking for help, and that’s especially true in your beginner days. Genshin Impact players unlock Co-op at Adventure Rank 16. This means other higher Adventure Rank players can enter your world and help you with fighting enemies or solving puzzles. All you need to do is make it known on your signature and wait for someone to enter.
Some quests will temporarily block access to co-op, so be sure to complete them if you want to play with other people.
Genshin Impact: How To Unlock & Play Co-Op
Playing Genshin Impact with friends in co-op can be a blast, but you'll need to know how to unlock and use the game's co-op mode first.
