Elden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtree adds a lot of new weapon types that function very differently from those found in the base game. One new weapon that greatly changes combat up is the Dueling Shield.

This item acts as both a shield and a spear that has multiple thrusting attacks. When used in the player's off-hand, this gives access to multiple types of damage and options to catch an opponent off guard with.

While changing the character's appearance doesn't affect the gameplay, it's more enjoyable to customize your own character.

Dueling Shield Overview: Stat Requirements, Effects, & Skill

To get the most out of the Dueling Shield, make sure you use it in your off-hand. This weapon can be equipped in your main hand, but can't be used to block and will just be used as a basic spear. While this shield doesn't have 100 physical damage negation, it is still an excellent option to use. As long as your main hand weapon doesn't also deal with pierce damage, this weapon can help get around resistances discovered in the moment.

In PVP in Elden Ring, players will quickly learn the move sets of weapons to know when is the best time to attack. With this shield, you can have another type of attack with a different animation and timing ready and waiting to be used to catch your opponent off guard. This weapon can also be equipped with all sorts of Ashes of War, including both shield and spear-specific options.

Where To Find The Dueling Shield In Shadow Of The Erdtree

The Dueling Shield is found in the Shadow Keep Legacy Dungeon. Proceed along the castle's linear path until you reach the Storehouse, First Floor Site Of Grace. In the Storehouse, head around the central platform with the beast statue to go around the backside of the building. Here, players will find wooden stairs they can take up to the third floor.

At the top of the third floor will be a Fire Knight dressed in red that players can either take out or sneak past. From the knight's location, take a left and go towards the wooden platform that leads around the third floor. Off to the left side over the edge will be a stone platform not connected to the wooden bridge. Jump to the small stone pillar connecting the two platforms to walk across and pick up the Dueling Shield off the dead body in the back right corner.
