The chase for big guns never quite stops in Borderlands 4, and while the craziest of loot usually drops only in the endgame, players will still need a good weapon by their side if they want to clear the campaign as quickly as possible.

There's no doubt that you'll find hundreds of guns during your adventure through Kairos in Borderlands 4, but if you're looking for something specific, or if you're having trouble getting an upgrade, then here's a quick tip on how you can build your arsenal without sacrificing much story progress.

Best Early Game Weapons Farm in Borderlands 4

BL4 The Prospects Ripper Drill Site

The best way to farm guns during the Borderlands 4 campaign is to do Ripper Drill Sites. These are horde encounters set in specific arenas scattered throughout Kairos. Drill Sites have tons of Rippers to fight (including plenty of Badasses), and there is always a boss at the end that rewards more loot than regular enemies. The higher the game difficulty, the better the rewards, and you'll get a better shot at getting higher-rarity gear too.

There are many different drill sites scattered throughout the map, and you don't need to do any side quests or other pre-requisites to challenge them. Just approach the area, and the chaos should start immediately. All you have to do is pay attention to the level of the enemies in the area and see if they're worth tussling with.

Ripper Drill Sites are marked by a drill icon on the world map, and there is always an Encore machine near them. Moxxi's Encore Machines let you refresh combat encounters without having to quit to the main menu, at the cost of Cash.

Best Ripper Drill Sites to Farm in Borderlands 4

Encounters in Ripper Drill Sites play out the same — fight Rippers, fight the Boss Ripper, then collect your loot. However, each Drill Site has a different boss, and some of them are easier to manage than others. Some good Ripper Drill Sites include:

  • The Prospects - Hungering Plain/Fadefields (Sidney Pointylegs)
  • Saw's Clench - Ruined Sumplands/Carcadia Burn (Rippa Roadbirds)
  • The Lowering March - Stoneblood Forest/Terminus Range (Battle Wagon)

Sidney Pointylegs, the boss in The Prospects, is arguably the best one to farm even in the endgame. He constantly spawns small robots that can be easily killed during FFYL, his attacks are easy to dodge, and he has a huge weakspot that's very easy to hit. The latter is especially useful if you have a Jakobs weapon, as the ricochets can clear the weaker mobs in your surroundings while dealing big damage to the boss.

More importantly, Sidney Pointylegs drops The Swarm, a legendary grenade that homes in on enemies when thrown and releases multiple tracking darts on impact. The darts will swarm enemies like angry wasps, constantly damaging them for a respectable duration. If you manage to get a Swarm from Sidney, you'll be able to farm every other boss more easily.

If you find a bubble covering an area while exploring Kairos, enter those and beat the boss inside for even more loot.
