Grounded 2 features a variety of materials that can only be obtained by killing specific bugs found throughout the park. While many bugs will attack you on sight, others won't pay you much mind, but are still worth trying to kill for additional crafting materials.

One bug that is easily ignored is Gnats, though Gnat Fuzz can be quite useful, especially when trying to craft a bow. Luckily, Gnats have specific areas of the park they favor, making them easier to find than those who wander aimlessly. While finding Gnats is only part of the goal, you'll then need to kill them, which will prove its own challenge.

How to Get Gnat Fuzz in Grounded 2

Gnat Fuzz is dropped from Gnats, which appear as small black flying bugs with red eyes and white bits of fur. Gnats are just about always found buzzing around still bodies of water, small ones that you can easily walk through. There are two found fairly early in the game, starting from the first Ranger Outpost:

  • Right above the first Ranger Outpost, before reaching the cave for the back entrance of the outpost.
  • Northeast of the first Ranger Outpost, up a small incline.

Gnats in the area won't fly away once you get close, and, for the most part, will ignore you even if you try to kill them. They have no defenses, and will only be a moving target you need to hit. As they are just about always over the water, be sure to actually loot the Gnat and not drink dirty water.

How to Kill Gnats in Grounded 2

Gnats are always moving and are fairly small targets. They will often fly outside of your reach, making the best option for killing them a spear. Your misses won't damage your weapon, and the added reach will help moving Gnats or those that can't be hit with another weapon type. Your only real chance is to just keep aiming and swinging at them as much as possible and hope it eventually hits, much like Mites. Using a melee weapon will also keep you from wasting any arrows, even if it seems like the gnats are too high to attack.

What is Gnat Fuzz used for in Grounded 2?

The best use for Gnat Fuzz, especially early on, is to craft a bow. Ranged combat will help give you the upper hand against the stronger bugs you'll quickly face in the park, especially those protecting rare materials such as Acorns. Gnat Fuzz is also used to craft the Gas Mask, which gives you Gas Guard.
