Lucian's Flank is a legendary Vladof assault rifle in Borderlands 4 that can spit bullets for as long as players can critically hit enemies. Those who played Borderlands 3 may recognize this gun as Lucian's Call, and even though these two guns are named differently, they're virtually the same thing.
While it may not be the best at killing bosses, Lucian's Flank is a solid option for fans of Vladof guns. It's one of the best assault rifles in Borderlands 4, and if you want to get a perfectly-rolled Lucian's Flank for yourself, here's where you need to go.
Borderlands 4: Best Legendary Shotguns & Where to Find Them
Players are going to want to seek out the best Legendary Shotguns in Borderlands 4 if they want to make their Vault Hunter the most powerful they can.
How to Get Lucian's Flank in Borderlands 4
You can get this legendary weapon (along with two others) at The Old Scrape, one of the Ripper Drill Sites in Borderlands 4 at the southern end of Terminus Range. Here, you'll be going up against the Meathead Riders, a duo boss composed of the Meathead Saddleback and his rider, the Immortal Boneface. As his name suggests, Boneface is quite literally immortal until you blow Saddleback up.
Blast all the Rippers away, and once Saddleback and Boneface appear, you'll want to focus as much fire on Saddleback as you can. He will occasionally amp the nearby Rippers up, causing them to become more aggressive and much harder to take down. If you find yourself in a bind, lure the Rippers away from Saddleback's buff range.
Saddleback also has a powerful, long-ranged missile salvo attack that can be very deadly. Try to keep something between you and him as much as possible.
Is Lucian's Flank Any Good?
Yes (Under the Right Conditions)
Every time you score a critical hit with Lucian's Flank, the gun will automatically restore 2 ammo to its magazine. It's much like Lucian's Call in that regard, but there's one big catch: the ammo restore effect on Lucian's Flank has an internal cooldown. This means you won't be able to just hold down the trigger and regain all of your bullets while shooting after sticking someone with a crit knife.
Additionally, since Lucian's Flank is an elemental weapon, it deals low damage per shot, but with the added benefit of being able to inflct status effects and take advantage of elemental weaknesses. If you're shooting at something that resists your damage type, you'll be burning through a lot more bullets than usual.
Lucian's Flank shines best when players have a build that plays around its strengths and weaknesses. For example, Rafa can get a 100% critical hit chance against Shocked targets using skills from his APOPHIS Lance tree. The other Vault Hunters also have skills that can greatly improve the lethality of this gun as well.
