Even in the harsh deserts of Dune: Awakening, money remains an important resource. Players can buy and sell equipment for Solaris, the game's main form of currency, and they can then spend Solaris to buy crafting materials, weapons, and other survival essentials.
Like in other MMOs, Dune: Awakening has an economy that's influenced by the players themselves. This guide covers where you can buy and sell gear, including where you can find and access the player-run market.
How to Buy and Sell Items in Dune: Awakening
The first and most obvious way to trade is to visit trading posts. There's usually one in each of the major regions of Dune: Awakening (including the starting tutorial zone), and they all have a merchant who'll be glad to take your gear and your Solaris. Each merchant is unique, and they'll usually agree to trade with you right from the get-go.
Dune: Awakening has a simulated economy that takes supply and demand into consideration. This means you can't just make tons of one item and expect to profit heavily from it. If you want to make money as a trader, you'll need to take the local market into consideration before going out to sell your wares.
You can find trading posts on your map. Each trading post has a Contract Board, and there will be one job there that will lead you to the trading post of a neighboring region.
How to Trade With Players in Dune: Awakening
Players can buy and sell gear from other players by visiting The Exchange, a player-run market that can be accessed via the two social hubs (Arrakeen and Harko Village). You can visit these hubs by speaking with one of the Taxi NPCs found in any trading post — look for the one standing next to an Ornithopter hologram. Traveling to a social hub has a 2,500 Solaris fee, but returning to the Hagga Basin via the Taxi NPC is free.
Players can travel to the social hubs themselves once they craft their own Ornithopter.
Once you arrive at either of the social hubs, go to the CHOAM Exchange store. Look for a sales terminal and interact with it to open the player market. Here, you can manually price your items and sell them to other players. You can also buy gear, resources, and blueprints.
Social hubs also have a number of specialty shops manned by NPC vendors. In these shops, you can buy Unique schematics, vehicle parts, rare resources like Plasteel Microflora Fiber, and more. The items sold in social hubs tend to be rarer or more advanced than what desert merchants sell, so make sure to pay them a visit and see if they have anything you want.
