Where Winds Meet is an action RPG set in a Wuxia world. Players have a ton of freedom when it comes to combat styles and exploration, and there's a big old storyline that's just waiting to be experienced as well. While the game is free to play, it does have an in-game store, and one of its main forms of monetization includes a gacha system that, thankfully, is quite unlike the ones found in other games.

Yes, there's gacha in Where Winds Meet, but the game has zero pay-to-win elements, and players can experience everything it has to offer without spending a dime. If you're wondering how the gacha system here works, here's what you need to know.

How Does Gacha Work in Where Winds Meet?

Unlike popular gacha games, the gacha system in Where Winds Meet is purely for cosmetics. There are standard and limited-time gacha banners, but both contain only skins, consumables (i.e. Dyes, buff items, medicine), and special effects for specific abilities.

Where Winds Meet has a pity system, but you'll need 150 pulls on one banner to reach it. You're guaranteed to get an Epic quality item every 10 pulls.

The game has two different currencies for its gacha banners: Lingering Melodies and Resonating Melodies. The former is strictly for limited banners, while the latter is for the permanent/standard banner. Both can be bought at the Jianghu Treasures section of the store using Echo Jades, which you can get through gameplay.

There are plenty of Echo Jades to collect in Where Winds Meet. Opening chests and completing quests will reward you with some, and so will joining a guild and participating in Arena battles. In general, the game is quite generous with rewards.

Lingering Melodies cost 200 Echo Jades, while Resonant Melodies cost only 160. You can only buy a limited amount of Lingering Melodies from the Jianghu Treasures shop.

Is Where Winds Meet Pay-to-Win?

Not at all. Unless you're entering a fashion contest, then the most valuable things you get from the Where Winds Meet gacha banners will have no effect on your odds of success. The skins and effects you get from the banners offer no gameplay benefit apart from making your Where Winds Meet character look cool.

The gacha banners may reward you with food and other items that temporarily buff your character's stats, but all of these can be crafted in-game using materials you find in the world.

The in-game store also has a variety of outfits and skill effects that you can just outright purchase. If you'd rather not deal with gacha mechanics, take a look at what the store has to offer and choose from there.
